I Love This Game The Bar Tab not so much

I’m writing you this letter so that you can enjoy and share in my grand moment. On June 30th 2011, I hit a hole in one. Actually more like a HOLE IN ONE!!!!! It was a beautiful day for golf in southern Ohio, sunny 85 deegees with a clear sky.

It was league night on my home course, the Elks golf course in Hillsboro, Ohio. I was on the final hole of a round I’d soon rather forget, as my partner had been making fun of me all day because he said I had the “S” word. Then that all changed in what I can still picture as a vivid slow motion replay. The hole is a beautiful par 3, measuring at 165 that day, over the pond onto an elevated green. The sun was starting to set as I grabbed my 7 iron, walked up to the tee box, placed my #2 Titleist DT distance on the tee, and stepped back to give it a ride. As I tried to clear my mind from the terrible day I was having, I started my backswing, then released the club and struck the ball. Watching the ball, sail through the sky, while trying to hold my followthrough, was a memory I’ll never forget. As the ball looked like it had a tracking beam towards the pin, it gently landed on the green, hopped once and then seemed to disappear. My partner said in the background “it went in”, myself I was thinking, it always looks better from the tee box. Anxious to get to the green to see what happened, we hopped in the cart and slammed the pedal to the metal. As my stomach was screaming to me the closer I got to the green and my ball was still not in sight. Then another golfer got to the flag before I did, he looked down into the cup and said “Titleist?”. I lost it (I’ve got the biggest smile while writing this letter and recalling all of these memories haha) screaming, high 5’s, hugs, and handshakes, it was a blur! Another golfer later told me he heard me screaming clear on the other side of the golf course. The moment ended with a lot of story telling, handshakes, pats on the back, and cold beers in the club house. Thanks for sharing in my experience. I LOVE this game.
