Odds of a Hole in One

They say the odds on a hole in one are 12,500 to one. Believe me, the odds in my opinion may even be higher. They say Ben Hogan never made a hole in one. Tough to believe that, but check it our on the web site, school is out whether he made one or not. In any event the monkey is off my back as witnessed by my three playing partners. Just last week, I was saying to myself will I ever have a hole in one before I die?

My hole in one came at the age of 63 September 3, 2012 (Torresdale Frankford Country Club/Philadelphia, Pa) and some 53 years post the age of 10 when I first started playing golf. Though my par four eagles are in the double digit range, it took me until yesterday to make the hole in one. Was it a picture perfect shot? No, but still a beauty from the back tees on a 176 yard uphill par 3. As I normally move the ball from right to left, this one was launched inside the heel, moving a slight left to right, but picture perfect into the hole.

Lesson learned, maybe I should change my golf swing to play the ball left to right!
