PGA TOUR | The Genesis Invitational
Ballstriking his way to a second PGA TOUR victory, Titleist Brand Ambassador Ludvig Åberg was clutch down the stretch Sunday at Torrey Pines, birdieing four of his final six holes to win by one.
- Åberg, gaming his NEW 2025 Pro V1x golf ball, TSR2 driver, T100 irons and Vokey SM10 wedges, led the field in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, gaining a combined 10 strokes off the tee (+2.855), on approach shots (+5.432) and around the green (+1.713).
- The 25-year-old Swede, who closed in 66 to post 12 under for the week, picked up more than five shots with his approach play (+5.432, 4th), including a hole-in-one on the par-3 3rd hole in Saturday’s third round (details below).
- He also finished 2nd in proximity to the hole (31’4”) and got up-and-down on 17 of 24 attempts (71%, 5th).
1-2 FINISH FOR 2025 PRO V1x PLAYERS; 10 OF TOP 12 PLAY PRO V1 or PRO V1x
- Ludvig Åberg's win at Torrey Pines with his 2025 Pro V1x marked the 12th worldwide victory for players using NEW 2025 Pro V1 and Pro V1x models.
- That list includes Sunday’s runner-up, who won the RSM Classic in his first start with 2025 Pro V1x last November.
- For Åberg, the win came in just his third full start since making the switch to begin the season at The Sentry (not including WD @ Pebble for illness).
- When all was said and done, it was a 1-2-3 finish for Titleist golf ball players at Torrey Pine, with 10 of the top 12 finishers gaming a Pro V1 or Pro V1x .
- In total, 48 players (67%) teed up a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than five times the nearest competitor (9, 13%).
ÅBERG ON HIS MOVE TO 2025 PRO V1x

- Ludvig Åberg began his 2025 PGA TOUR campaign with a key addition to his equipment setup: 2025 Pro V1x.
- Åberg made the move after testing ‘25 X in the off-season with Fordie Pitts, Titleist’s Director of Tour Validation and Research, and further on-course testing at home in Jacksonville.
- “Just to tighten that [spin] window a little bit was a big deal with the driver,” Åberg said. “And then I felt like my irons reacted very similar and then just a little bit softer and more spin control I think around the greens. So I’ll take that.
- “The game at our level is so tight and a good season can be separated by just a couple of points here and there. So if you can find just a little bit that’ll make you a little bit better, a little bit more consistent or a little bit more control, I'm going to be up for it and I think most guys will do too.”
ÅBERG ON WHY HE PLAYS PRO V1x

- “I like to put spin on the ball. I like to hit it a little bit higher to have a little bit of a different angle coming into the firmer greens that we play here on the PGA TOUR. So I think the Pro V1x helps me with that and it helps me to be able to compete against the best players in the world.”
- “I just love the feel around the greens, putting, chipping, I love the softer feel (of 2023 Pro V1x), and it flights the way that I want to.”
- “What you want when you’re chipping is that little extra feeling of checking up on the green, and making sure that when the greens get a little firmer and faster, you’re still able to put that spin on it. Which I feel like [the Pro V1x] allows me to do. Chipping and short game is such feel-based – what you like to feel, what you don't like to feel. And this allows me to have that creative mindset.”
- “As a golfer and as a competitor, you always look for the perfect shot and the perfect execution. It's not always going to show up that way, but at least this golf ball allows you to have that consistency and that way I know exactly what it’s going to do when it reacts on the green, when it reacts in the air. This allows me to have my spin rate in a very consistent level, which allows me to score a bit better as well.”
- “The Titleist golf ball is the best golf ball there is. I’ve used it for a very long time, it’s something I trust and it’s something that I really enjoy using.”
- “I used to live in a small town. I would always go into the woods and look for [Pro V1’s]. And every time you found a new one, found a really nice one, that was like the best feeling. So I used to have a ball bag of all my Pro V1’s that I found. Every once in a while you got to go into the pro shop and get a new one, but it didn’t happen very often. So now we're super spoiled. We get new balls every now and then. So, it's really cool and I've played it for a very long time.”
ÅBERG'S SATURDAY ACE: ‘25 PRO V1x + T100 PW
- Åberg's Saturday round got jump-started on the 140-yard par-3 third hole, when he holed his tee shot for an ace.
- Standing on the tee at 4 under for the week, the 25-year-old pulled his T100 pitching wedge and flagged it, his ‘25 Pro V1x landing just past the hole before spinning back into the cup.
- “I think it played 115 meters, something like that,” said Åberg. “It was one of them that I actually hit the shot I wanted to as well, which is nice when it goes in... hit a little cut pitching wedge up in the wind and landed behind it and came back. It was a really cool moment. I've never made a hole-in-one in tournament play before, so it was a first for sure.”
- The ace was one of countless stellar approaches this week from Åberg, who led the field in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (+10.0).
- He also finished second in proximity to the hole (31’4”).
