How do you follow-up a record setting opening round of 58? Well, Titleist golf ball loyalist Stephan Jaeger (Pro V1) went on to also shatter the 72-hole Web.com Tour scoring record by posting a 30-under-par 250 victory total at the Ellie Mae Classic - besting the old scoring record by five shots.
“I don’t know what to say really. I’m speechless. I played good today and all week,” said Jaeger in his post-round interview.
“It was a phenomenal week.”
And it certainly was for Jaeger as he notched his first career Web.com Tour victory and became the first wire-to-wire winner of the 2016 season.
As for being the first player to post a 58 in the history of the PGA TOUR, Web.com Tour, European Tour or PGA TOUR Champions…
“Obviously you don’t expect that ever. Starting off the week like that, you wonder is it your week,” Jaeger added.
“I just kept telling myself that ‘it’s your week, it’s your week, it’s your week’ and I stayed in the moment well.”
In the end, it was definitely Jaeger’s week at TPC Stonebrae.
“It’s a great feeling to stand here … and hopefully we’ll do it many more times.”
Congratulations, Stephan!
