Do you plan on making the switch to a mid or long putter next season?

I prefer the standard length.  allows your arms to be freer.

I've tried it but still prefer the feel of using a standard length putter.

Love the feel of the deep milling on the new SC California putters.  Looking forward to getting one in my bag in 2012.

I went belly 4 years ago.  Have been off an on ever since, used it again for more of this season.  Will probably keep it next year too.  Tried long for one round, felt to weird to keep.

I am going to stay with a standard putter.  I have looked around the local stores and can not find a belly putter that comes close to fitting.  At 5'6" they are all too long for me.  I hate to order a custom one without trying it out and can not find one that fits.

Not sure where about's your from but I know Golf Town near me now has a belly from another brand. That way you can try out the right length and then order a Kombi mid!

Short putter for me forsure, tried the belly and the long and although they worked for a few rounds here or there I always seem to come back to the short stick.

They worked for you?  I saw you play with the belly and the long... Wouldn't say they worked.  I'd say they more we're carried on my back along with you and the rest of you bag for the round. ;)

If you have any relics hiding away in the basement, experiment by have a shaft extension put in. That way, you can get the feeling of the length adjustment without the fear of gaining a collection of Scotty's for displays in your bedroom. But, that really isn't a terrible problem!

I've been using a long putter for a few years now and I will NEVER GO BACK!!! I hear people say they are not the greatest for long putts but not for me i fell so comfortable on them and all length of putts long or short My putter is so long that my left hand is holding the top of the putter with my left hand placed over the heart and standing fairly upright I'm not sure of the actual length but if I had to I could use it as a crutch and I'm 6'2"

Looking forward to gaming my Custom Shopped Studio Select Newport, 35". Have tried the others, but no changes for me in that department anytime soon.

    Never!

  13. I have no plans on making any switches with my putter in 2012 because I know it's the puttees' fault and not the putters fault. lol Seriously,I tried a long one for ten minutes in 2010 and that was that. Standard 34" for me.
  14. Just ordered my Kombi 48 inch...tried it out for a few hours (in total) and once I got the hang of it...I was in...I'm curious to see how my 2012 season ends up...moving from the 35 inch SC Newport 2.0.

Well folks, as a teacher and a curious golfer, I have done my own research on the belly vs. standard. Here are my findings; I consider myself an above average putter (avg. 30 putts per round, season avg of 1.65 putts per hole.) I make everything up to 5 feet and the odd ones from outside 25 feet. My buddy recommended that I try the belly to help me make more "you need to make some from this distance to win-putts" from 6-25 feet. My 7-week research showed that my putting from the short distance got considerably worse and my must-makers (6-10) avg did not improve enough to make up for the mediocre short putting skills. Further, I found that my "touch" was all but eliminated. Those "feel" putts that I used to "wish" in the hole were no longer there. Keeping in mind that I am a "feel" golfer, I am not sold on the anchor system. I believe that the Golfers that are more "analytical" will find that they may benefit from this approach. The end note, the guys in search of the perfect swing are good candidates, the players that "feel" their way around the course will find the belly a nuisance. Of course I cannot generalize, these are simply my thoughts. Paul @beyondthedimple

35" for me!! I would be willing to try a belly/long as it seems there many be some advantage. But if there is a lack of feel...I'm out!

I'm a 33.5" and have been for quite some time. For some, the mid and long options work tremendously. Putting is a strange creature all together. When it comes down to it, good putters are good putters because they can consistently hit  their lines with excellent pace. I would recommend that players experiment with different lengths of putters. Even if you consider yourself a good putter, there is no harm in testing other options. But rather than hitting two balls and cancelling them off, give it a chance to gain a spot in the bag. Too often we omit the slightly uncomfortable because it is "different". Sometimes the eureka moments are just around the corner.

There is much to learn with experiment with different putter lengths as well. With Mid putters, players can get a different sensation of what it feels like to rotate around the spine. They also offer up copious grip options to experiment with to fuel any golfers internal curiosity. Putting with a long putter often involves more of an arm swing rather than spinal rotation, so it is definitely one of those styles that works well with some and not so well with others. If one can get used to the pivot aspect of this style, they will likely find they can gain speed control. Regardless of the putter length, if you can challenge your body to develop a stronger correlation between its rotational movement and the speed and direction the ball travels, you will improve your putting. So test yourself this off season, and try out some different lengths of the Scotty Cameron line up!

    Vincent,

Typically the 50" Kombi long is stocked at store level.  However, the 48" long is available as a custom order only.  Assuming all components are in stock to build the putter, you are looking at a lead time of 7-10 business days for delivery.

  20. Thanks for the response Ryan. Done and Done...my new Kombi 48" Long putter has been ordered. Can't wait for it to come in.
