  1. I just bought a newport 2 scotty and I am not happy with it  is to heavy first off  and it is either the grip  not being square or the face is closed and I think the loft is to high because the ball just bounces up off the face I think I am going to buy the weight kit and put the 5 gram weights in but I have no control of the loft or the closed face anyone have any ideas ? when you buy the weight kit dose it come with the wrench just asking because when you buy a 910 f or a 910 h those clubs don't come with the wrench . Oh and by the way just got my CB irons 2-PW - 52 and 56 SM4 volkeys , 910D3 9.5* , 910F 13.5* and new bag with the same colours as the head covers and everything is awsome .

    Tyson,

In regards to the Scotty Cameron putters, the putters go through strict quality controls to ensure that the head is to spec and this includes the grips being put on using lasers to make sure it they are put on square.  If you think it is not square or there is a defect, please feel free to bring the putter back to an authorized Titleist dealer and the putter will be sent back for inspection.  Our repair team will take a look and see if there is anything wrong.

If the putter is purchased "off the rack", then you will find each putter with 4* of loft and a 71* lie angle.  These specs are used and put on all stock putters because years of Scotty's research and the use of slow motion photography, they are proven to be the most effective.  Depending on your shaft angle at impact and the speed of greens you play, loft may start to be adjusted.  We have the ability to adjust loft by +/-1*.

Should you require the weights to be changed, the Scotty Cameron Custom Shop has an excellent after market service that will be able to assist you in the changing of the weights including other aftermarket options such as stamping to personalize the putter to your liking.  To see what options are available, please visit the Custom Shop at

All costs and shipping information is located on the website as well.

  3. I ended up trading the newport 2 for a newport because of my eye thought the newport was square and it felt better when striking the ball so I think I have my problem solved . I have 2 questions for you , if I choke up on my putter dose this change the swing weight and if it dose will cutting it down from 35-33 make a difference in swing weight or stay the same as the swing weight  when I choke up?

I just recently bought and ordered my custom Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2. I currently play a 33" putter and when I went to GolfTown all they had was 34's and 35's which is standard. I inquired on what the process was to get a 33" putter. They told me that I could not take at 34" or 35" and have it cut down as it would void the warranty on the spot. I was told that when the Scotty Cameron Custom shop makes my putter they take all the steps necessary to make sure that the putter is weighted properly according to shaft length and any other modifications that you request at the time. Hope this helps from my experience but there will be more Team Titleist members that will gladly weigh in on this. Best of luck to you and congrats on making the switch to the Scotty Cameron line. Best investment I've ever made!

    Cheers Shawn

    Hi Shawn,
    Thanks for the question.
If you were to cut down the existing shaft on your own or through a club fitter contact it would not void the warranty. However, we do highly discourage it and it would indeed alter the weighting of the putter. If anything aftermarket is found on the club then the warranty would be void.

34" are shipped with 15g weights.  33" are shipped with 20g weights.  Thus, if you were to cut down the shaft, your 33" would then be lighter in the head then Scotty intends.

If sending to the Scotty Custom Shop, there is an option to 'Reshaft' and then under 'Adjustments>Length Adjustment' there is an option to select 'Desired Length Adjustment' and place 33".  Please review the Weight Recommendation Chart found in that section.  If you select 33" the chart recommends 20g weights which is what you would find in a stock 33" Newport 2. Then of course there are all the other great customizations you can make to your putter.

    Weight Recommendation Chart: http://www.scottycameron.com/customization/custPopup.asp?mode=3

We would recommend taking a close look at the custom shop order form and the Weight Recommendation Chart above.  You could even run through it with a Golf Town store associate.

We hope this helps.  If you have any other questions please let us know!

    All the best,

Thanks Mitch. I was led in the right path by the GolfTown employees in Barrie. They did infact set me up with the correct weights on my custom order. It was a 2 month wait to have it custom ordered to a 33" length for me. They said I'd receive it by the first week of June. I can't wait!
