    Well... I have officially started to do what I've thought about for a long time. I am converting my bag into a 100% Titleist/SC bag. that said, I am not going to be going with the 913 line as it stands right now. Recently, I found a couple of Titleist clubs from dare i say "yesteryear". The sticks in questions are the 909 D3 (picking up), a 909F2 and a 909H. The sticks are all in mint condition.  Anyways, I am recovering from major health issues dating back to the PGA Show in Orlando (fought for my life this winter and nearly lost my leg from the infection). Anyways, I am not back to 100% yet (about 75%) but I am slowly getting back into playing shape.

    I cannot say enough about these sticks. The 909F2 13.5* is great from the tee and deck. At last I can reach long Par 5's in 2. I don't carry a driver at the moment but this club is long. I'm loving the results. I literally brought home the 909H Sunday and put it into play. More of the same. It's amazing how when I put Titleist into my hands the confidence goes from the hands to the head. I have long said that nothing compares to the sound and feel of Titleist.

    My transition is continuing into Titleist as the next purchase will likely be a 48* and 54* SM5. To be followed by the 714 AP1. I have deliberated long and hard on the iron selection (can handle the MB's, thought CB's and really considered AP2) but in the end I just feel that a little forgiveness can go a long way.

    Thanks Titleist for being classy and making great sticks. Finally there will be stability in the bag for the first time since 2010.

    Hi Alex,

    First of all, I'm really glad to hear that you are coming out on top of those health issues.  I hope you're at 100% very soon.

    As for the irons, I, too, thought that I would buy actually end up buying AP1s for the same reasons as you stated.  But after hitting the AP2, I was surprised how forgiving they actually are.  If you haven't hit them both, then you should... and I can't stress enough how much of a difference the shaft makes.  If I was going to buy irons with stock shafts, I would have bought something else.  For me, the S300 stock shafts of the AP2 just didn't work.  But, when I went for the fitting, I found that the AP2 with the right shaft gave me more consistent results than the AP1... who can argue with that?  Everybody's swing is different, and maybe the AP1 is a better fit for you, but I wouldn't discount the AP2 before you try them.  For what it is worth, I also tried the CB and MB, and for me, they didn't work.  Too tough for me to consistently find the sweet spot.  But you said that you can handle the MBs, so I would guess that the AP2 will be plenty forgiving with some workability.

    Thanks so much for the well wishes.

    I have gone back and forth on this selection process and I just keep going back to the AP1's. Just a gut feeling. When I get up to the Titleist Fitting Centre I'll hit everything and take the best numbers. As long as the engine is good (the shaft) the rest will fall into place. LOL... I like your summary at the end regarding the MB's and AP2's. I haven't ruled them out yet. :D

    Your feedback is much appreciated.  It is great to hear that you continue to progress along the road to recovery.

    When we see some folks hesitate in choosing AP1's (over AP2, CB, & MB) even after seeing their best results with them, we often remind them that Majors Winners such as Zach Johnson and Ben Curtis put them in play along with a number of other tour players.  These are some of the best ball strikers in the world. If a golfer experiences their best results with AP1, they should very seriously consider them.

    It has been a long road to get here but knowing that this journey is in the final stretch brings me to huge smiles and at times tears. I cannot begin to state how dire things were this winter.

    I pretty much have decided that I'll be going AP1. It just comes back to them. The way that I figure is that if I'm coming down 18 with a chance to win (I plan on being in such a position.... soon) and the nerves enter... the AP1's would afford me a little mistake. I was sifting through the site and player's bags as I was curious. Your point is so valid that it cannot be said enough. I have always been a firm believer of the following....

    "When it comes to golf... you're ability to get good is only as good as your ability to check your ego at the door."

    Alex...  That is a great quote to live by for life overall - not just golf !

    Check your ego at the door and when you go for your fitting I agree that the best thing to do is let the experts help you out and let the numbers help you make the selection. If the numbers are good, and you like the feel then go with that !

    I was fitted a couple of years back for the 712 AP's. We tried a number of clubs from not only Titleist and in the end - for me the AP1's were the club. Another thing I kept in mind was that I am closing in on 60 years of age and having a more forgiving club as the years continue to roll on will definitely be a bonus.
