I recently lost my 56 degree sand wedge while playing a round at a local course. I was contemplating on the replacement possibilities. I decided on the SM4, and glad I did. While the 56 was great out the sand I find the 54 more versatile in different situations during a round. I'm able to bump and run or flop and stop. If anyone is looking for a wedge to add to their bag I highly recommend this club. Thanks Lenny

Len - Am I correct in understanding that you replaced your 56 with a 54 and use that out of the bunkers? I would guess that is due to the 11 bounce that you picked up. I am curious - do you encounter a lot of bunkers on the courses you play, and is the sand very fluffy or hard? I would have thought it would be more difficult to use the 54 out of most bunkers, but I certainly can understand how it would be great around the greens. I use a 52 for my chipping and pitching, and could certainly see myself using a 54, but I never did well with my 56 around the greens. Looks like you have found a great compromise.

I may have to try that out. If it works, I could possibly eliminate one of my wedges to leave room in my bag for another utility club.

You are correct Darius, I did eliminate the 56 all together. I use the 54 on the occasions I find my self in a bunker, which naturally I try avoid. My swing is more of a slide swing as opposed to a dig swing so I normally don't leave a big divot. I find the less loft of the 54 gives me the distance and control I need whether I'm in a bunker or a clean lie. I must confess the first couple of times I cringed at fact of using the 54 SM4 in a bunker. Although I must say I'm used to it now and am very satisfied with the results. I find the game of Golf is a sliding scale and with creativity you may find the key to improving your game. Try it out I hope it works for you as it has for me. Let me know I would love to hear feedback positive or negative. Good luck. Cheers Lenny
