Lately I have been hitting my Irons thin & believe it is result of me moving up & down. Any Tips as to eliminating moving either my head or body up & down?

There are thousands of books and videos, and just as many careers built on answering questions like these. Why ? the answer is simple,,,  Golf can be an extremely difficult and frustrating - yet rewarding - game.

When I hit one thin it is mostly due to the fact that I was facing a shot that I did not have full confidence over and as such wanted to take a little peak at the result prior to actually making contact with the ball. (It is only micro seconds).

Try concentrating on actually watching the club hit the ground after it makes contact with the ball. Not watch the club hit the ball, but actually watch the club make contact with the ground after it hits the ball. If you can fool yourself into believing that watching what is going on at the club-head is more important than watching the flight of the ball then you will have less of a tendency to lift your head :)

P.S. If you do find a quick simple fix for your issue - perhaps you could write a book, or make a video :)

Hi Allen, A couple of thoughts I hope will make sense an help you. 1) Make sure you stay in an athletic posture. That is to say, keep your knees flexed and spine angle. Like playing defence in basketball if that makes any sense. That will take focus off worry about something but rather doing something productive. 2) now being athletic you can "cover" the ball with your chest through the swing. Meaning that a you swing through focus on having your chest/sternum pointing at the ball rather than moving ahead or worse behind the ball causing you to lift up to clear and hit it thin. you can practice this in slow motion without a ball in your living room. slow motion will reveal how you are doing and if timing or moving parts are off. Very slow motion. Maybe that will help. I hope it does. good luck and hit em' long and straight and drop your putts! james
