    Edmonton,

    Hi All:

I currently play all 14 Titleist Equipment other then my putter which is a png. I play to a 18 handicap but I've started taking lessons locally within the winter mounths which I hope will help me with my overall game.

I play 712 AP2 (4 IRON  to PW )  .All are bent 2 degree Flat and I have the XP95 Regular shaft in all

For my wedges;  I have a 52, 56 and a 60 degree Lob Wedge again all bent 2 degree flat.

For my long game ; I just purchased a 915 Hybrid (21 Degree ) , a 915 F 15 Degree 3 wood and finally a 915 D2 10.5 Degree Driver. All have regular shafts in them.I know that I can adjust all of them with the surefit system up or down.

I was wondering about the gapping between my 4 iron and my long game clubs . I know from previously hitting my old Taylor Made RBZ;  I would average roughly 180 yards with my Hybrid 21 degree; 19 degree 5 wood would go 195 yards ;  15 Degree 3 wood would average about 200 yards and driver would go to roughly 230 Yards  . From hitting the Titleist clubs in a simulator they where all averaging more then 15 yards but a lot more consistency down the center line . I currently hit my 4 iron roughly 165 yards.

Any and all feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi Marc,

My opinion is that having consistent gaps is important at the short end.    For me, anything longer than 4i, I'm not thinking about flag hunting.  I'm happy to be anywhere on the green.

The fact you're taking lessons will probably alter you average distances, so whatever you are seeing today on the simulator will probably change as your swing improves.  If your driver goes 230y, then you have decent club head speed.  I would have thought a well struck 4i would go further, so my conclusion is that you're probably not making solid contact with the long irons.  Lessons will help you improve that area of your game, and you will probably find that all your long irons will stretch out, including your hybrid.  I would not worry too much right now, and adapt as your game evolves.

I, too, have a gap between my 4i (equivalent) and my 5w.  It has never really been a problem for me.  If I'm facing a par 3 that is in the "gap" between those clubs, I look at where the trouble is on the hole, short or long, and choose a club that will avoid the trouble.  In the case of a par 4 or 5, then I come up with a strategy that avoids an approach from that distance.   The nice thing about your 915H is that you can adjust it to be a little stronger or a little weaker to suit whatever situation your "home" course is likely to present you.

    Good luck!

    Hi Marc

I also have a gap in my set between the fairway wood and 19* hybrid.  The easiest way I have found to compensate for it is to shorten my grip on the fairway wood about 3/4 of an inch.  You will have to experiment to find how much you have to shorten up to fill your gaps but it will pay off as this idea even works for those awkward yardages when you are between clubs.  Hope this helps!
