Dual Balance Putter Grip

    With Dual Balance putters is the added weight in the grip or the shaft of the club? I am considering shortening my putter but not sure if I can pending placement of the weight in the grip or the shaft. I have a Dual Balance Futura that I would like to shorten by about an inch. Will this shortening of the putter affect the putter balance and if so how much? Thoughts?

    Hey Steve...
    I had my last putter lengthened and when the guy did it he also added weights to the butt end of the shaft to create the dual balance concept.
    Here is an interesting article on the Scotty Dual Balance putters that may be of help to you.
    The article notes that Scotty Cameron generally makes the shaft longer and suggests people grip down lower to take advantage of the balance effect.

    Thanks Darius for the interesting article.
    If I wanted to shorten the club to say 37 inches, is the weight in the grip or the club?
    I can probably blow off the grip but not sure if the additional weight is in the grip or the shaft of the club.
    Any idea? Was thinking about blowing off grip and cutting down shaft and regripping with original grip.
    Thougthts?

    From what I have found, the weight is in the butt end of the shaft. It may be epoxied into place, so removing it would likely require heat. What I am not sure about is how tapered the butt end of the shaft may be and if the weight would fit back once you cut off part of the shaft.

    The weight is installed in the shaft not the grip.
