If you signed up for the Titleist Golf Ball Test Panel then you may have recently received a sleeve of Titleist prototype golf balls in the mail.  Those of you who did will also be receiving an email shortly with a survey link to provide your feedback.

With that said, we wanted to open up a forum where you could provide your feedback and see what other Team Titleist Members have experienced for themselves.

We look forward to hearing from you in both the survey and in the thread below!

If you missed out on signing up for the Titleist Golf Ball Test Panel, you can do so here.

If you signed up for the Titleist Golf Ball Test Panel but do not receive a sleeve by the end of the week, please know that each of our test panels vary in size and scope so we can't guarantee that everyone will be selected to participate. However, we will do our best to include as many Team Titleist members as possible in these exciting opportunities.

    Regards,

  2. Mine arrived today....thank you for including me on the test panel. I'm hoping to have a nice enough day to test them before the snow flies, but if not is it okay to wait until spring for feedback? I'm not sure it would be a fair reading to test them on a cold, blustery day.

    Thanks for this Mitch...
I received a sleeve of test balls on Tuesday and was out on Wednesday for a round. Looking forward to filling out the form and providing feedback on the survey.
Over all, I was certainly impressed with the test ball I received. It felt really good and soft off the driver, irons, and the putter. It also seemed to carry further than my ProV1 which I was hitting for comparison purposes. Unfortunately, I did notice a small cut in the ball at the end of the round. This is the first Titleist ball I have had the cover split in so long that I cannot remember it happening. (with the exception of when I used the old balata balls that is)
I will be out again with the other two balls and compare them against my ProV1x.

I also received mine on Tuesday. Thank you for including me. Played yesterday with them and was quite impressed, after a few hits with them. Initially , felt a bit harder on my first drive, but then started to get used to the feel as the round went on. Felt very nice around the greens, and I have to agree with Darius, in general this ball seemed longer. I have been dedicated a Pro V1x for the last couple of years, so hard to find another ball in comparison, but looking forward to filling out the survey. Will get out again in the next few days to give it another go.

Hey Mitch --- nothing received yet (but out here on the West Coast we may take longer for shipping).

I'll keep an eye open for the package. Look forward to it as next week we'll be back to some good golf playing weather! :-)

Ditto here. Nothing shipped yet in Alberta. Fingers crossed as I am most likely playing my last round this weekend. Some courses are still open after the snowfall we had last week.

Test course: The links of GlenEagles Cochrane, Alberta
Weather: Tee off 10 degrees with a West wind 15 km/hr increasing to 25 km/hr throughout the round. Partly cloudy.

Test 1: Putting green. Test ball vs ProV1x. I found that the test ball had a softer feel compared to the 1x. A playing partner confirmed this. His quote "that is the best ball I have ever putted "

Test 2: pitching. Not mutch difference between the two balls for small pitches around the green.

Test 3. Driver: This was a down wind shot with a generous fairway. I felt that the test ball had a little more jump off the club face. Both balls were struck well. Distance was pretty much the same.

Test 4: Long iron approach: With the cool weather and windy conditions I did not find much of a difference between balls.

Test 5: Durability. I would say that the ProV1x has a more resilient cover. The test ball (as pictured) has damage from a wedge.

Test 6: Accuracy: (as pictured) the test ball was pretty awesome :) I almost jarred it. 162 into the wind. Made the birdie!! Marshall gave me the 'shot of the day' ball marker!!

Overall, I would say that the test ball was comparable to the ProV1x. I really liked how it felt off my putter which is important to me. I didn't like how soft the cover was.

Thanks Mitch and TT for the opportunity to test.

    Cheers!

Got my test balls last week. Played 2 rounds with them this weekend. Great balls and found some great improvements in spin in the short game and distance with the driver.
I just filled out the survey as well
Thanks again for the opportunity to provide feedback

Hey guys, ... good feedback already! I am a bit envious -- out here on the west coast, we just had a major storm system come through. IT brought hurricane force winds (100 mph in some parts) and with rain in the amount of 200mm in some parts. As a result, we just have not been able to play any golf! :(

Weather forecast calls for some dry weather at the end of this week - so I will be eagerly putting these balls into play! I'm very excited by the prospect of testing them out.

A big "shout out" and thank you to Titleist for engaging their TT members in the testing and consumer feedback portion of their new balls -- I don't know of any other major ball manufacturer that engages their brand enthusiasts the same way!
  13. I found that the prototype had a slightly lower trajectory off my driver than the ProV1x I usually play. It did seem to spin slightly less and flew straighter but I could still fade and draw the ball. The prototype spun more on the mid-iron shots and had more stop on the greens than the ProV1x's. As for putting, the ball had a nice feel to it and seems just a little softer. I did note that after using the ball for one round it seemed to be a little more beat up than a ProV1x after one round. Overall though, I liked the ball and would use it in the future. Thanks for letting me try them out!

I'm not 100% certain but I thought for sure I filled out a signup sheet a month back or so, I'm really hoping I can get a sleeve to test! Not too many golfing days left in this season but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

  15. I got to test the prototype this week and was impressed with it off short iron/ pitch and chips. I felt as though I had more control over the ball the way it performed. (I also lowered my personal best to 77....could have been the new ball, who knows?) In my opinion it was too cold the day I used it to give it a fair test with long irons and woods. I'll keep one or two of these to really test out come spring.

    Thank you Titleist.

    Bragg Creek,

I guess I'm different in that I saw these prototype balls fly slightly higher and a touch shorter than the V1x side by side. From 175 and in though, they're a dream. They spin a little more and feel great off the putter. Little checking spinners are a lot more effective with these. They scuff a bit more than the current V1x but it didn't seem to affect the playability.

Thank you Titleist for the opportunity to test the prototype PRO-V1x.

Not the most ideal test conditions here on the Westcoast, a week of wind & rain. Today I tested the prototype PRO-V1x, of the tee I found it a little longer with a lower ball flight. Same goes for the fairway & hybrids. I really noticed a big difference with my wedges, more control & spin. Loved it! A nice soft feel coming off the putter.

Looking forward to stocking up my locker next spring with the new ball.

I got mine and have tested as much as I could. Unfortunately (for testing), I got a job last week for until Xmas (supply teacher covering for the end of a Maternity leave!) and couldn't wear them out playing. As well, it was extremely windy every day I had a chance so mainly my mid and short game are what I could accurately test, in a secluded corner of my course. I hit a few dozen shots with the prototypes, my fall ball Qstar yellows, and about half as many with current model Prov1, X, and NXT Tour S. I used my GPS to measure (in meters) the distance of each shot.

8i: Proto flew high and spun well.
    Proto:132.6m
    Qstar:131.8m
    Prov1:120m
    X. :133m
    NXT. :130.7m

56* wedge:Proto flew fairly low and spun nicely. It carried a similar distance to the Qstar but the more spin stopped it more quickly.
    Proto:103.5m
    Qstar:104.5m
    Prov1:100.3m
    X. :99.3m
    NXT. :99.5m

Short game: the prototype spun significantly more than my Qstar, but was noticeably firmer. There was a definite clicking sound. Putting was similar in the hard feel.

Hi guys, ... I feel a little late coming to the "feedback party", but as Peter H. noted, it has been a very wet and windy past couple of weeks out here on the West Coast.

So, I managed to put the balls into play 3 times in the last 5 days and my feedback -- surprise, surprise, is not much different than everyone else's here.

My distance off the tee/long irons was probably not as long with the prototype ball than my usual game ball (Pro V1x). The distance differences were not much ...maybe a couple of yards - which could easily be attributable to swing, wind conditions, etc.

Where I really noticed the big differences was the spin and control on the ball. On longer holes, I usually have to use a long iron or a hybrid for an approach shot, and while I have worked very hard at being able to hit a higher trajectory shot for more of a steeper descent into the greens, I did have a few that were not so steep in their descent. With the prototype balls, I noticed that I was able to get more spin and stopping power on the ball -- it was a very pleasant surprise.

Whereas my usual ball would have rolled out maybe another 5-10 feet, the prototype stopped quickly; 1 hop and stop - with a long iron!

The shorter irons/wedges were the biggest difference for me. The amount of spin and the control that it offered was phenomenal comparatively speaking. As I indicated, we have had a lot of rain ...some 200 mm last week and another 25-75 mm this past week. The greens were very soft and receptive.

Yet, I did hit my balls in a side to side comparison (same club, same type of shot and same distance). The prototype had so much spin that I was able to adjust my approach to scoring. I would use the prototype ball and flight it to the pin more, where it would drop and stop or drop with 1 short hop of about 5 feet.

My usual game ball would have short hopped about another 5 feet further on some of the shots. All in all, the proximity to the pin was much smaller when I used the prototype ball vs. my usual game ball. That meant significantly more opportunities for shorter birdie or par putts -- or where needed a shorter put to salvage a bogey.

The feel of the prototype ball was significantly softer than my usual ball as well. I could feel a better grip coming off of my irons and wedges.

    Port Moody,

Received the test balls over two weeks ago but with my travel schedule and rainy weather out here in BC was unable to try them out. Fortunately my travels brought me to Orlando this past week so gave them a run. I liked the ball and agree with many of the comments about it being a little softer and had great control on the green.

And wouldn't you know it... made an ace on #3 spinning back an 8 iron about 10 feet from 152 yards!!

Thanks Titleist for the opportunity to test the ball out!

    Port Moody,

I received some test balls a couple weeks ago but due to my travel schedule and poor weather in BC, I was unable to test them out until my travels landed me in Orlando this past week. I agree with many of the previous posts, the ball felt a little softer and seem to spin a little more into the green and gave a little more control on approach shots.

And wouldn't you know it... I made an Ace with the test ball on hole #3 from 152 yards spinning it back about 10 feet with an 8 iron!! Thanks for opportunity to test the balls Titleist!!
