Good morning all!  I hope everyone had a great weekend.

With all these team events taking place this past weekend (PNC Father/Son Challenge, Franklin Templeton Shootout) I started to wonder who would make the best pairing in golf.

I think for the purpose of entertainment I would choose Ty Webb (Chevy Chase from Caddyshack) and Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler).

Wouldn't it be great to see them face-off against Judge Smails and Shooter McGavin?!

I'm curious to see what everyone else's dream-team would look like (past, present, or fictional)

    Cheers,

Ben Hogan (circa 1951-53) ... even though this is post accident, Hogan was still at the top of his game and brought laser like focus to the course with some of the finest shotmaking ever seen in golf. Called the "Hawk" for his intense stare while he surveyed the course, his upcoming shot, etc. he is often credited with having introduced the concept of "course management" to golf!

Of course, unlike a talkative Ty Webb or Al Czervik (Rodney Dangerfield) or a Carl Spackle (Bill Murray greenskeeper) type, a round of golf with Mr. Hogan usually only consisted of him only saying "You're away"! :-D

HAHAHA ... I accidentally deleted the last sentence of my previous reply ... and for a partner it would be Byron Nelson ... these two were a terrific pairing! I read the book "The Match" ... very interesting and entertaining read!

    Great question...
I would love to have had the opportunity to watch Arnold Palmer at his peak and as his playing partner, none other than Moe Norman. It would be so interesting to see Moe at his best playing beside Arnold. One player that strategically could place shots on command and another that charged his way around the course. Ideally it would be best to have them play in a scramble as a team to see how low they could go :)
  6. I'd like to see Steve Stricker and Jordan Spieth play as a twosome. The Old Master and the Young Gun.

Just to hear some good trash talk, I would say Matt Kuchar and Phil Mickelson

My twosome would feature Lee Trevino and Seve Ballesteros at their peak. These unparalleled shotmakers would be a joy to behold. Playing their favourite forged irons and persimmon woods, they'd also be playing the pre-late 1980s Titleist Balata. This ball, in the hands of these magicians, could be shaped in ways that today's players couldn't possibly imagine. Since each loved to laugh and to give the needle to the other, the match would feature unparalleled play and lots of laughs. You can't ask for more than that.
