    On Tuesday I finally got out to the golf course to actually play a full 18 holes and I have to say I am extremely impressed with the new 917 driver/shaft combination I purchased. Chris Welton at the Titleist National Fitting Centre did my fitting last fall and I did get the club just before the season ended, but in fairness I forgot how well the fitting went. I did have a 913 D2 and was looking for a little more consistency and a few more yards (hey - who isn't). Chris obviously outdid himself in finding the right shaft to fit my new 917D2 as I found I was back to driving it as far as I did in my early 50's. It was awesome. The best part is that I went back out on Wednesday and managed to repeat the experience :) Thank you Chris and the team at the National Fitting Centre over at Eagles Nest !!! I am still working on a few swing tweaks to get out the winter rust in order to get the most out of my new AP3's but in general they are an awesome feeling club. The sad thing is that I have developed a bit of a sh%$k with the wedges when trying to hit those 30 and 5o yard shots. Definitely a few trips to the practice facility will be in order to iron those out ! I will gladly accept any tips from those who have had that struggle and found a cure !

    Very nice! I found it is very important to be fitted to the right shaft. I bought a 917 D2 off the shelf and I didn't like the Diamana shaft it came with. I changed it to an Aldila Rogue Silver and wasn't hitting that well either. I started blaming the driver then thought of how well I hit my hybrids. My 3 hybrid was going as far as my driver due to the hook or slice. I changed the shaft once again in my driver to the same shaft as I have in my hybrid, the Fujikura Speeder Motore, and wow what a difference. I'm hitting all my drives straight and far.

    I'm very glad you posted this. I have been struggling with my new 915D2 hitting 30 yards short from my old driver. I was about to try and replace it but completely forgot about looking into shaft options..

    Titleist has their Titleist Fitting Thursdays - Check the discussion started by Mitch a week or two ago - If I were you, I would take advantage of an opportunity in your area and book a spot to have the fitter find the right shaft for you. They have so many options available so finding the right shaft by trial and error could get expensive. The fitter will have a significant number of shafts right there and would be able to find the right one that works for you very quickly.

    It does... I spent another $300 on shafts on top of the driver by doing trial and error. Only good thing is that I can sell the old shafts.

    A club fitting with a qualified club fitter is the answer. Buying a club off of the rack and not being fit is just asking for trouble.

    Have to agree with other comments. Being fitted is not a sales ploy. With Titleist offering so many shafts, you owe it to yourself to be fitted properly with the right shaft, I have increased my clubspeed with my irons by approx. 2 mph. Hugh difference in distance. One thing I am noticing already is that I can shape the ball with my AP3s, much better than the png Gs I had previously.
