    I received an email update from Titleist today that provided an update on the win by Adam Long and his recent win using the Titleist ProV. I was always impressed with the number of players that use Titleist balls above all others, but had no idea the new line of metals - the TS2 and TS3 series - were doing so well. I quote from the article "For the third week in a row on the PGA Tour, Titleist was the field favorite in drivers with 45. In fact, there were 28 new Titleist TS3 drivers in play this week, that was twice the number of the next closest driver model with 14. The TS3 was also the most played driver model on the European Tour and Web.com Tours."

    I know I was impressed with the new line when I tried them out this fall, but the fact that this many players have picked up on the new line is very impressive !

    They are the best drivers, they just lacked distance previously unless you were custom fit which people look past. They are the most accurate drivers out there, a lot of guys I know still game their 910 and will not get rid of it because they say they hit it straight.

    The ball speeds with TS are seriously impressive. I appreciate and respect the Titleist marketing that make claims of increased speed. All the YouTube reviewers experienced higher ball speeds and my own testing of my TS2 three wood is the same. Need to add the TS3 I was fit into at Titleist Thursday from the fall.

    For me it was an easy choice. Same shaft/grip as my 917 (swapped them out during the fitting). +15 yards on average in a direct comparison (5 swings 917, 5 swings TS2, 5 swings TS3, repeated twice). It was eye-watering for me. But it wasn't just the distance that improved, the dispersion for me was much tighter as well. TS2 was the answer for me!

    Personally I haven't experienced the yardage gains some others are getting. I am hitting it farther, but it is the sound that first got me hooked.

    How much distance do you think is gained by Titleist extending the stock/recomended driver shaft length?

    Todd - It is an interesting question. My old shaft was 45" (the Stock length at the time), TS stock length is 0.5" longer. I have heard that the marketing speak is that because the heads are more forgiving they extended the shaft length which all other things being equal should allow for more club head speed (not sure of the exact relationship). For me however I cannot help but wonder of the slightly shorter length has produced a more accurate strike on the club face which (along with any other improvements) is part of the secret to my gains. YMMV

    The local Golf Town had a Titleist fitting event this week. I was fit for a 3 wood and Driver. I am amazed at the fitting process. I currently play with a 917D2 and a 917F3. I noticed myself that I tend to like a smaller head golf club, I can't hit an AP1 well but i'll hit an AP2 nicely.

    I was fit into the TS3. What surprised me was my gains. The fitter was able to get me over 20 yards further than my 917. Dispersion was a lot better as well.

    Does your local Golftown perform fittings in-house? OR have they partnered with Golf-Tec to provide that service? I know that some of the Golftown locations on the west coast have brought Golf-Tec "in-house" as a partner to provide fittings in addition to their usual business of providing lessons.

    While I have gone for previous fittings for Drivers and other clubs, I think that this will finally be the year that I will upgrade my driver (915) to the new TS drivers.
