I felt sorry for Justin Thomas on Sunday at the WGC Mexico Tournament. He was just a little off and unfortunately could not quite hold it together to drain the putts he needed to take the win. I must say however that he reaffirmed my faith in the level of honesty and integrity that is still present on the PGA Tour in spite of the controversy that has been in the recent golfing news.
After marking his ball to move the rake, he replaced his ball and went to check out the green to plan his shot. When he got back to his ball, before even taking his stance he said he noticed the ball move and immediately called for an official. Here's the rub... The ball moved an imperceptible amount. Even in the video replay, it was really tough to see. Perhaps a different camera angle would have helped.
The net result was "No Penalty" and "Play it as it lies". Regardless... He showed the true integrity we all expect in the game.
