    Bragg Creek,

In the next couple of days I'm going to place an order for a 910 driver so it's here by the time the snow is gone. I  want to order an aftermarket shaft and I'm wondering what my best options were with the 910. I play a Mutsubishi for Titleist right now in my 907 and it's just not the right shaft (everybody and their brother has recomended that I get away from the "for Titleist" shafts and go aftermarket). Swing speed average is 122 MPH and I hit the ball quite high, so I wouldn't cry if the ball flight came down a little. My tempo is on the medium-fast side and my miss is a big hook (but I play an "S" shaft with a 4.3 torque, so the hook is no shocker).

Also, I'm not sure whether to go with the D2 or D3. I'm a 1.8 handicap that favours a draw, but I like to work it doth ways. Am I correct in assuming that the smaller D3 is easier to work? Any input I could get would be much appreciated. Cheers!

    Trevor,

I would suggest getting properly fit for a driver.  At 122 mph, more then likely  that S flex isn't enough shaft for you and the ball is spinning too much, causing the ball to go high, and hook.  (Too much spin will create too much side spin too)

Just taking a guess... the 910 D3 9.5 or 8.5 with either the Ahina 73 X or the RIP 70 X. Or if you want to go custom after market then you could go with the Graphite Design DI7, Avix Core Tour Green, or the Pro Force V2.  All those come with a hefty up-charge, and a longer waiting period.

This years "made for shafts" are the best Titleist have ever made.  They actually play stiff then the "real" ones.  The Ahina would be a very good fit.

Anything that is in the 60 gram range will be no good for you, will cause the ball to spin too much.

But like I said best thing is to be fit.  Find someone local who knows what they are talking about, and has a fitting cart.

Now if it turns out your actually spin the ball very little but just launch it way to high then all the shaft suggestions I just said wouldn't work. haha.

    Hey Trevor,

I have been to the Titleist factor to become certified with there Sure Fit system, reading what your saying i would agree with Bradley L and suggest you have a proper fitting done to ensure that what your ordering is going to be the right fit for your swing.

Based on what you have told us I would suggest that you look to try the 910 D3 head type, it will reduce your spin rate however still allow you to work the ball. also if you did not want to pay for the expensive up charge that some of the higher quality shafts have you should look to combine the D3 head with Titleist's new Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana 'ahina its a 72 gram shaft with a 3.2 torque it is a little heaver and will play a little firmer than any of the past made for Titleist shafts.

Might want to try it in a S flex first if you are looking to work the ball. while your swing seed might allow you to play a X flex the S flex is going to be a little more forgiving and allow you to shape your shots better, also the X flex in such a heavey shaft might change your miss all together and as we all know that changes the game all together.hahahahaha

    Hope this helps good luck
