I have been playing with my Titleist Progressive for 10+ years (hcp 6), so it's time to buy new clubs. I'll be in San Diego end of February so now's the time!

Here's the question, if you don't have time to read the background below :)

I have tested AP2 with KBS Tour shaft, loved them.

    I have been recommended this:

    Titleist AP2 712 irons 5 - P  (6 clubs) KBS Tour Stiff   1° Strong

    3 Wedges, Spin Milled SM4, Black Nickel     52 - 8, 56 - 8 and 60 - 12
    also KBS Tour Stiff

    Titleist 910 H  24    KBS Tour Stiff
    Titleist 910 H 19    KBS Tour Stiff
    Titleist 910 H 15    KBS Tour Stiff

    Title 910 F-d   15    KBS Tour Stiff

    Question 1

I am a bit worried about the length of the shots between the 24 Hybrid and the 5 iron. My friend told me to order all irons 1° Strong so that all irons "match" and the gap between the 24 Hybrid and the 5 Iron will "be better".

What do you normally recommend for the "jump" between iron and Hybrid? Should I go down to 4 iron before switching to Hybrids?

    Question 2

The Golf Store (Stadium Golf Center, San Diego, hope they are ok!) said that you do not supply 910 F-d 15 with KBS Tour Stiff. What shaft do you recommend?

    Background

I'm 51 and have a hcp of 6. I had scr when I was a senior at High School (US) but that was A LONG time ago. I did not have the talent to get better (only hard work and a good pro got me down to scr).

I have played 3 - 5 rounds per year the last 20 years. I play either extremely well (not so often) for 10 - 15 holes (on par or below), or (more often) I hit them constantly 15 degrees right (slide too much?) and can't score.

I would like to get in the 50+ team at our golf club so I am motivated to "re-start" my golf career... My goal is not to get down to scr again but if I would like to play around 6 - 7 "constantly".

I play today with my (old) Wilson Staff and a Titleist 905R Driver with a V2 shaft (more often my 1 or 2 iron).

I did a fitting in Sweden and they recommended Titleist AP2 with KBS shafts  and they felt goooood.

I play today with irons 1 - 9, 56°, 60° and my driver (I'm better with my 1 or 2 iron than my Driver from Tee). I want to have as much help as possible from my clubs and have tried some hybrids (am positive). I have a good "iron swing" which I rely heavily on. Hit them compact, long and high. Used to hit very hard and fast but have slowed down a lot for more control (last 2 years), and not lost any (?) length. Play only with Pro V1 balls.

A friend of mine (very good golfer) recommended the clubs above:

    So, now to my question.

I am a bit worried about the length of the shots between the 24 Hybrid and the 5 iron. My friend told me to order 1° Strong so that all irons "match" and the gap between the 24 Hybrid and the 5 Iron will "be better".

The 24 910H should be longer than your 25 5I because of shaft length and head characteristics.  The 910H can also be adjusted to 23.25 of loft.  Your fitter should have reason to use 3 hybrids instead of irons.  Other than at 61 like myself it is pretty common to use hybrids/fairways woods above a 5I.  If you can still hit a 3I and a 4I, I'm not sure why you have been recommended for hybrids down to the 4H.  But your degree gap from iron to hybrid can be managed without decreasing the loft on your irons.  I'd the monitor tell me if any irons needed gap adjustments.
