I am a relatively new golfer, right at 2 years, HCP 23 but recently shot two rounds in the high 80's......what is the proper  way to determine lie angle of each club?  Should it be determined by physical measurements of the golfer?  then adjust with a lie board?  My concern is, as my swing improves, could it change?  I currently have a fast swing speed, around 107 with driver, play AP1's with C Taper S+ shafts.......Thank you!

The physical measuresments are to determine an approximate static lie.  Lie board with the scuff marks in the middle will give you an approximate dynamic liel; however, the final determination would be how it is hit off a perfectly flat lie outside.

If your swing changes, you may have to re-adjust.   For me, I had been playing standard lie irons for 30 years (played almost no golf between 1977-2006).  When I took up the game again in 2006 I had to play steel shafted fairways and hybrids but the issue is I tended to pull them while still hitting irons straight.   I got a tip in 2008 to stand more erect with a little less knee flex and that worked for the long clubs but I started having trouble with the irons with an apparent shank or pushing it.  I had to bend my irons upright and space them closer together (my 8 iron had to be bent 1/2* upright and the 5 iron was 1.5* upright from stock on a set of Black Cats).

I would say that my swing has remained constant for about 4 years now.   I went from shooting around 95-105 between 2006-2008 to consistently being in the mid 80s after 2009.   I recently broke 40 for 9 holes (par 37) and shot a 40 on a tougher course.   Best score on any 9 hole layout is +1.  I did have a period of time between July - Nov last year where my game kind of took a dive mainly due to recovering from a muscle injury in May and adjusting to the 910F/910H (was having problems with low pulls and sometimes burying the club).  Also was attempting to try a 910F 21* but ended up tossing it and using a 9 wood for awhile (until I adjusted my 27H to D2 setting and now there is only 5 yards diff between it and the 9 wood so  I pulled the latter).

    Thomas,

When working with a Titleist Club Fitter, they will put lie tape on the sole of your iron and have you hit shots off a lie board.  The impact marks on the sole of the iron will indicate whether you need a more upright or flat lie angle. As your swing does change and develop, you may need to have your lie angles adjusted.
