Currently gaming a set of swoosh Pro Forged Combos and really want to get into some Titleists!

Went to a local pro who has a fitting cart and we hit the AP1s, AP2s and CBs. While I liked the look of the CBs best and I hit them as well as the AP2s they just didn't feel quite as good to me.

My average ballflight is high so we didn't even bother spending much time on the AP1s. Most of it with the AP2s (as they're fairly similar to my current set). I hit them very well with the S300s in them so I'll likely be going that route (AP2s, 4-PW, +1/2", and 1 degree up).

BUT I'll need to fill the gap that the current 3i in my bag fills (I can leave it in there for now). Likely I'll go the hybrid route but would like suggestions between the H1 / H2. I didn't spend any time hitting yesterday and it'll be a bit before I can get back out there so I'd like a base to start with.

    Any thoughts?

  2. It depends on your comfort level with the hybrid 'and the game of golf overall'. If you are a mid to high handicapper with the usual miss hits than the H1 would be the club of choice. From my knowledge its larger in size and has more options in terms of adjustability. The H2 is the "pro" version if you will. Workability will be more difficult but then again if you do get comfy with it you will have an easier time playing the shots. Either way there's no substitute to the old method of testing it yourself. Everything these days is so subjective.
Personally i have an 913 hybrid which is my bread and butter. I used to be a long iron player but these days i dont get out as much as i used to so my ball striking in the long irons is the first thing that suffers. I wont tell you which one to go buy but I can and will recommend switching to the hybrid instead of the long iron. The ease of play and forgiveness is huge bonus and makes this game we love just a tad easier.. But you still have to go and hit a bunch of shots to determine which hybrid suits you and your swing. Theres no quick answer.

Good luck and hit em straight.

I thought I wanted an H2, because I like the look of a smaller head. However, after hitting an H1, I fell in love. I have played many hybrids over the past 7 or 8 years and my 21* H1 is at the top of the list. When I put a good swing on it, the ballflight is exactly what I expect. Even when I mishit it, 9 times out of 10, I get better than acceptable results. I have grown to have almost as much confidence when this hybrid is in my hands as I have with my AP2 716 9i, which is ALOT!
  4. If you played an iron 3 before why wouldn't you go back to irons? I would suggest the T-MB Irons, great of the tee and manageable out of the rough.

If you really want to go with Hybrids i would suggest the H2 since they are more controllable, thats what i experienced.

Anyways nice choice with the irons, maybe i would have a look on some Project X Shafts since you are hitting a high ball.

I'm actually thinking hybrid only because my game has stepped back a bit and I don't get the time on the course that I used to. So a little help there never hurts :) I still *may* go with the 3i, as mentioned earlier I really need to hit them first.

As to the PX shafts, talking to the pro/fitter he didn't think they'd gain me anything and his selection was fairly small (he had about half dozen total shafts). I'd like to get to a full fitter at some point and try a larger variety but I dont have a lot of options around my area.

It is all about choices, and before I made that choice I went to my fitter to ensure I was making the right choice with the right shaft. I ended up not getting the shaft that I would have chosen. Seems like fitters know best. It's all about the shaft. They both a great heads but until you hit them at a fitting on the range you will not know for sure. Just throwing in my two cents worth. I ended up with the 816H1 with the Motore shaft.

I'll tell you this, I've never been a hybrid man, as I usually hit my long irons well and love my AP2's, and you can't do with a hybrid (working it, flighting it down, turning it over etc. getting out of trouble) the same that you can do with a long iron. That being said, I had extra $ in pro shop credit and bought a Titleist 2 hybrid. It is the best hybrid I've ever hit. I did try a lot over the years, and this now replaces the 913 5 wd that I carried. And like most, the superb Titleist fitter who came to our course, did know better and when I listened he put me in the right combo to make it perfect for me.

Thanks for all of the comments folks! I'll update on my decision down the road!
  9. I think you need to figure out how you like to hit a hybrid. Do you sweep them more like a fairway wood or do you hit your hybrid like an iron? I am not sure on the 8 series but the 915H is more fairway woodish and the 915HD is more iron like. I replaced my 4 and 5 iron with a 915HD and haven't looked back. Very happy with the choice, especially out of the rough compared to an iron.
