I purchased a new 909D2 driver, 909 F2 15.5 Fairway wood, and 909H 24 degree Hybrid.  I was told the Mitibishi Diamana Blue Stiff shaft is the best fit, but I am hooking everything.  When I seached the Mitsibishi site, It shows my Driver Clubhead speed at 108 MPH requires an X-Stiff shaft.  The retailer does not seem to care, based on the shafts you offer, what should they have fit me with?

I am really sorry to hear of your fitting experience and have contacted Acushnet Canada regarding it.  They will be contacting you within the next day or so to talk with you about your fitting.  Let us know how it works out for you.

Sorry to hear your not liking your new clubs very much. Were you actually "fit" for the clubs or did they just recommend which shaft to get? Did you hit the clubs/shafts before purchasing?

Yes, but hitting a club in a simulator and being told the most important thing was launch angle was not very helpful.  Since my last post I have had an Aerotech Claymore 48 F5 shaft installed, it has a higher bend profile, my launch angle is around 11.5 degrees instead of the 14.5 degrees the Golf Town guy demanded was ideal.  I am carrying the ball 265 to 270, and because of the lower drives there is roll instead of the ball plugging.  Bottom line is the drives are long and in the fairway, I will be switching the F2 to this shaft, and I am considering their steel fibre shaft for my hybrids.  Great shafts, look them up at Aerotech.com apparently there are a few pros now playing them.

I had the best fitting of my life on the range..not in a simulator. You have to hit the ball in real world settings on the range to see how you actually hit the ball. That's just my opinion.

BEWARE of the big box store fittings! The golf discount stores want to sell you on in stock products. I asked a sales person about what shaft options they had available for fitting and was told that the stock option fits 99% of the golfers that come into there store (HMMMM really). I immediately walked out of their store as it shows their unwillingness to help players find their true optimum combination. I had a fitting expierience with a club that showed the optimal launch for my swing and when i questioned about the 47* angle of decent I was told it didn't matter.  Understanding they are not a professional clubfitter, I was never fitted for length, shaft weight, bend profiles, tip flexes or any other variables to fitting. Their recommendations are soley based on what stock product you hit best, then close the sale!

I wish I had seen this post 5 days ago because I have a feeling something similar happened to me.  I went in and got fitted on the launch monitor for a new 910D2, 910F, 910H and new AP2's thinking everything went well but doing more research I think the guy was just trying to sell the stock product.  Got me in the Diamana Kai'li shaft for all three woods and didn't even bother to try out other shafts for the irons.  I'm hoping I'm wrong though and everything works out once the order comes back. Definitely won't be a happy if Titleist is recommending these "fitters" and they don't even try to help the golfer.  Is there a policy Titleist has on these sorts of situations?

Hi Matthew,  We want to make sure that any fitter we recommend has both the expertise and the tools to do a proper fitting.  Our Team Titleist feedback is one of the ways we will be able to track and recommend fitters.   There are good fitters at golf retailers and as a fitter, you can tell when a shaft and head works for someone and when you look at the numbers, they verify that.  It makes it easy to recommend a shaft quickly.  Let us know how it works out when you receive them.

I would definately recommend going to a Titleist advanced clubfitter. Just recently I went and got fit for a 910 driver at Northview GC just outside of Vancouver BC. My fitter Kathy was fantastic. She watched me warm up,then went to the trackman to check out the numbers on my current driver. She came up with a base line idea for fitting my swing, then we proceeded to test club and shaft combos. I went throught about 7 or 8 diffferent  head and shaft cominations, to find what works best for me. The fitting provided the best conditions to be fit. It was outdoors, I was able to try numerous combinations, and I could sense what worked as far as feel ball flight, and the actual shot data. In the end I was fit to a 910 D2  10.5 with a Kai'li 65 S. So make an appointment. It's well worth it!
