Mid-Size Grip Options for Fitting

    St Ives Fitting Center and the Brabazon Golf Academy do not offer a midsize options for fitting. I've used midsized for years, it cured for my grip pressure, early release, and who knows what else. Does anyone know somewhere in the East Midlands area that will do a fitting with midsize grips.

    I know it may sound petty but I don't want to pay for a fitting where I know the grip size will make a difference.

    Totally agree with needing to be fitted with the right grips, but so far so good with the TS and SM7's I've had fitted and have mid-size MMC+4 on as the larger grips are heavier and change the swing weight of the club which is something I'm concerned with as I'm changing my irons from Lamkin R.E.L Gen3 midsize to Tour Velvet Mid-size+4.

    The guys at TXG on YouTube say that every 4g in the grip affects it by 1 swing weight.

    I use midsize grips too, although I've never done a fitting with them on the clubs. For me, I'm a higher-than-I-would-like handicapper and I've never noticed a difference between being fit and my results on the course.

    The biggest difference I ever had to get adjusted to was when I finally did a wedge fitting and had proper length shaft and lie angles from off-the-rack wedges. Between the Project X shafts, extra length, midsize grips, and even having the wedges ported the swing weight is off the charts.

    Interesting thread and something I have given some thought to. Depending on how confident you are playing the right shaft, you can use your current shaft (with your current grip) assuming you are playing a Titleist driver/3-wood or hybrid currently. At the very least it gives an additional interesting data point.

    For irons, I chose the 5 most likely shaft choices and had our pro throw a midsize grip on them for the fitting. Cost me $20 but was worth eliminating the variable IMO.

    Interested if others have additional thoughts.

    I'll have to see if one of the fitting centers will provide me this option.

    after all, the midsize grips are not so easily slide on to the test set ups so we just live with what's available.

    Recently put a midsize grip on my driver and it has helped tremendously. Seems like having the right size grip at fitting would make a difference too.

    About to spend $400-500 on a driver... a $20 "disposable" grip seems like a small expense. Call it a grip tax!
