Did you get fitted? It sounds like you did but it still didn't come out right for you?

Yes I did get fitted...but I was surprised by the results at the time. I'd read some posts that the Tensai Red shafts were becoming more common, so I went with it. But the T300 and that shaft combination didn't really work for me on the course. But I'm sticking with my Titleist woods, Vokey wedges, and ProV1 balls!

Where did you get fit? I would try to get in touch with your fitter and let them know your concerns. Maybe you can schedule a follow up session.

I ended up with ‘T200 equivalent’ irons with KBS TGI 80 Graphite stiff shafts. A much better club-face feel, and very stable high-launch & lighter-weight premium shafts. Lighter than my original sticks, but heavier/stiffer than the Tensai AM2 Red. The fitting process was much more rigorous than provided at my home club…which I think made all the difference. I’ve tried these new clubs on the course…and they are great!

Would be interesting to know who and where you received the fittings. Possibly a good lesson here. People automatically recommend getting fit for clubs, but don't talk about where to get fit. I have found that all of my indoor fittings at golf shops over the years meant nothing when compared to a true manufacturers representative fitting, and done outdoors.

I limit fittings to outdoor sites that are Premier/Regional centers. True ball flight can only be simulated in 15 feet. Will also consider a local club having a special fitting with a Titleist sponsored fitter. I liken it to brain surgery - you want the specialist that does that job weekly, not 6-7 times a year.

I’m doing a Titleist fitting at my club next weekend, and my question is if I should wait for the new models to come out, or get the current irons?

Fitting day rained out. I’m going to wait until the new ones come out. At the very least it will give me one more option.

I’ve contacted my club professional, and we’re scheduling another Titleist fitting in a month or so. Let’s hope that I’ll be more comfortable with the outcome…

We had a bunch of club companies scheduled for fitting days at my club, and two( not Titleist) put me in graphite regulars that were 35 grams less than the current stiffs I am playing. My swing speed was up, and I hit them longer, but they were longer left, and longer right. I really don’t care about picking up distance if I can’t control them.

Notice you almost never see a Titleist booth at those multi site events. Two reasons I don’t even bother with golf shows is most people standing in line are just tire kickers and you can hardly get 5 minutes of attention. The personnel are rarely full time company fitters - I could likely get a slot with one of those OEM’s and have a product brochure in my back pocket to espouse the virtues of those products. Guess Titleist sees the same value of hawking against the other slots.
I have seen an uptick in some other OEM’s offering comparable time slot/limited access registrations like Titleist at outdoor ranges. Follow the leader??

These fitting days were not a big demo event. It is only one manufacturer at a time, and an appointment was required for each one. Unfortunately, the Titleist day has been rained out twice, and I don’t know when it will be rescheduled. Add to that, I have seen the pictures for the new irons, and I kind of feel like it’s a waste of time to be fit for the current irons when the new ones are on the horizon. I don’t know about being a leader. The leader for me will be the irons that work the best.

Good point Don. I have two fitters I work with. Bill Forbes, who is a Titleist product specialist/fitter, and try to catch up with him when he is fitting in my area. He normally does fittings at clubs, with over 25+ years experience. My other go to guy does fittings out of his shop, with four fitting bays and over 35 years experience, probably the most in demand fitter in the state, David Ayres Lowcountry Golf. Very hard to get an appointment for most. Both are very experienced, know the brand and what I need. They never let me down. Will be looking at new hybrids this summer and and irons this fall, once my game gets back on track. My main concern in fitting at my age is keeping it heading down the middle and respectable yardage with minimal effort. My back can only take so much after all these years. My pro is helping in these areas, as well. Thanks Tim.

Sea Island Performance center is my go to! Although they don't fit Titleist exclusively, that is my preference. You also get fitted on real grass...weather permitting.
