Let me begin by apologizing for the length of this post. I’m new(ish) to the golf world and am still trying to figure out all the ins and outs of the equipment side of the game.

I recently got fitted for new irons by a Titleist rep at a country club that I work at. He fit me into the 4-P T200s with 1/2” long shafts and 2° upright. I really enjoyed the clubs, but recently decided to mix it up and swap the 7-P for T150s while keeping the 4-6 T200s for the needed forgiveness in the longer irons. Same shafts, just changed the heads. The switch had mostly to do with distance consistency in scoring irons as the 200s seemed a little hot off the face at times. Since the T150s are lofted 2° weaker across the board compared to the T200s, should I bend the 4-6 T200s to be 2° weaker in loft also (matching what the 4-6 T150s would be)?

I also have toyed with the idea of cutting my shafts down a 1/2 inch to standard size after a friend of mine who has club fitting experience mentioned that I should be playing standard length while playing a round with me. I’m not completely sure why I was fit into the 1/2” longer shafts. I am 6’1 and have a wrist to floor length of 36 inches. From what I have read, this should keep me in standard length. I would love to hear people’s opinion on this. Along with this, if I do cut the shafts down 1/2”, would I need to redo the lie to compensate for the change? I feel the 2° upright is necessary because of my extremely steep swing.

Thanks in advance for any answers or responses. Any insight is appreciated.

Sounds like your spending too much time thinking about your clubs, and not enough time playing golf!
You're asking a lot of questions from people who mostly are not qualified to give you the correct answer. I think you are the perfect candidate for a professional fitting with a Titleist qualified fitter. You won't regret it.

The length and lie has to do with how you setup to ball. While standard length maybe a starting point, it is not a universal truth. Before cutting them, choke down 1/2 inch and see if your dispersion angle changes or if you start hitting the ball thin. Working with a fitter at that point to see if the shorter length and possibly an adjustment to the lie angle work better.
Don’t adjust the loft empirically. Find a shot monitor and see if you get somewhere in the vicinity of 5 mph and 15 yards distance gaps between clubs. The pros adjust their lofts based on distance/window results, not maintaining exact 3 or 4 degrees difference. If you do have a gap, the best result might be to adjust the 7 and 6 iron 1 degree each and not adjusting more than 2 irons and opening a wider gap after your 4 iron.
You’ve got close to 2 grand in irons. Working with a fitter for $75-100 to get all the adjustments right the first time is a good investment over guessing.
