I did a Titleist fitting a couple of months ago and the fitter recommended the following driver 9.5 D2 with Project X 7C3 and fairway 17 F with Project X 8C4. I purchased the 4 wood right away and it performs great, but held off on getting the driver until now.

I went to Golf Town recently to try out the 9.5 D2 PX 7C3 driver and these are numbers that I generated from the sim:

    Distance (yards) 239 y 239 y 242 y 245 y 239 y
    Carry (yards) 233 y 234 y 234 y 237 y 235 y
    Run (yards) 6 y 5 y 8 y 8 y 4 y
Club Speed (mph) 105 mph 104 mph 104 mph 104 mph 106 mph
Ball Speed (mph) 141 mph 141 mph 141 mph 142 mph 142 mph
Vert. Angle (deg) 16.6 deg 15.0 deg 15.6 deg 13.0 deg 15.5 deg
    Hor. Angle (deg) 0.6 Deg l 1.3 deg l 0.7 deg r 1.5 deg l 1.7 deg r
    Backspin (rpm) 3770 rpm 4074 rpm 3400 rpm 3661 rpm 4308 rpm
    Sidespin 548 l 248 l 122 r 476 l 59 r
    Max Height 52 y 49 y 48 y 44 y 52 y
    Draw/Fade 17 y 11 y 6 y 19 y 8 y

I didn't get the data of my original fitting, but the current launch and spin rates seem high to me with this driver. But I went ahead and ordered an 8.5 D2 with PX 7C3, hoping it will lower numbers. Would I be correct in doing so? Or is there another head and shaft combination you would recommend?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    J. L.

    Cathi,

Thank you for your help and for taking the time to speak with me today.

I got a call from Ryan at Acushnet Canada and he has arranged a driver fitting for me at the Fitting Centre at Eagles Nest to re-evaluate the numbers and maximize my performance. I will report back the results of the finding afterwards.

    Thanks again.

    Jeff

I just got back from the fitting centre at Eagles Nest and Alex was the one who evaluated me. He took his time and explained the numbers trackman generated from me. It didn't take him long to find the ideal specs for the driver. In the end he found that the 910 8.5* D2 with the Project X 7C3 in the B2 setting gave me the best numbers, it lowered my spin rate to about 2600 - 2800 rpm and launch angle to about 11 - 14.

I want to thank Cathi at Team Titleist for providing me with such great customer support. I also want to thank Alex at Eagles Nest for his time in getting me spec'ed and Ryan at Achusnet Canada for arranging the session.

    Best Regards,

    Jeff.

Did anyone say anything about your ball speed vs swing speed?

Smash factor, ball speed divided by swing speed, opt is equal 1.5, yours is roughly 1.4

It looks like you are creating a more glancing blow than the loft of the club would dictate. Coming down on the ball with the clubface titled back. Kinda like you are trying to slide the club under the ball instead of smashing the ball, much like you would do for a flop shot.

You should probably be hitting around 260y with a 104mph swing speed.

You are spending big bucks on a new driver, I'd spend a little more and get the swing right, then check those numbers.
