Got a sleeve of new Optic Yellow "Test" balls from Titleist.

I compared the feel of them to my DT SoLo in Optic Yellow and to my Pro V1's that I had sitting on my table.  There is definitely a different sound and feel to the new "Test" balls.  And a more complex dimple pattern too.

Looking forward to seeing how these play when stacked up to the DT SoLo and Pro V1's.  Curious as to where these new balls will fit into the Titleist lineup.

    Interesting.

i never even thought about yellow until this past weekend.  It is so tough to spot white when playing late in the day in the fall in the northeast.  Leaves are everywhere!  Optic yellow has got to help!

I use the Optic Yellow ball all season long and like how it stands out against the greens in the spring and summer as well as the browns and reds in the fall.  I also use polarized lens in my sunglasses to cut glare and allow me to see the ball easier.

I wonder if a Optic Yellow, Pro V1 may be in the works? Hmmmmm

If it is a new pro v testing yellow optics that would be a great sample. but as a loyal pro v user, I really don't want to change balls. But as you discussed in this climate and stage of the season, with all the leaves are falling and turning colors  and hazy skies the yellow is a perfect option, Several of my friends have opted for the  competitions ball for the yellow optics. So , srxn ,  and others are getting the business titleist is losing for that reason..

No one wants yellow versions more than me, but it's doubtful they are seeding yellow ProV balls for testing.  The non-urethane balls are due on cycle for updating.  If they released a yellow ProV at the PGA in January, it would likely be the 2013 ball.  With 4 lines and 6 balls , it will be fun to see if they adjust the lineup to retire one of the 4 and add another yellow option. Or.....

The NXT Tour and my Test ball (dark red number) are both so good, I'd take either in yellow.  The last NXT Tour I lost was because I lost it in a gray sky long before it descended.

I was fortunate to have been selected last year for a golf ball test.  It said ProV1 TEST on the side, but really wasn't concerned with what particular ball I was given.  The purpose of the test is to compare its' various characteristics with the golf ball that you currently are using.  It was really interesting to see how that ball performed against what I use.

I viewed my task as simply analyzing how the ball performed.  The ball that I tested was certainly not the same as the ProV's that I had been using or even a distance ball as it was shorter in all aspects but it was a very high spinning ball, especially when hit into the greens.

If you really like a ball and its' performance, I'd suggest that you put that onto your reviews and ask to receive updated info on if or when it would go into production.  Bear in mind that it could take time for the fine-tuning of the development.

I would love to be able to test a New yellow ball and if it's a Pro V1 that would be even better. Had the opportunity to receive and test balls in the past and it's one of the best things Titleist does IMO. Now if they would send me some clubs to test I would be thrilled. Thanks Titleist

I'd have to imagine the Optic Yellow would be a newer version of the DT Solo or Titleist has decided to expand their Velocity or NXT Tour options in a yellow. One of the 3 makes the most sense to me.

That is great news! I have heard that Titleist was considering producing a Yellow ProV1. Are the balls you received ProV1's? Be sure to write a good review.  I really like using yellow balls when I play in a group...makes my ball easier to spot.

I would absolutely love to be a part of the ball testing group.  Is there anything I can do to be considered for this honor?!?!

    Hi Barnwell,

Thank you for your interest in participating in the test panel.

In terms of the selection process, all Team Titleist members are considered when we have opportunities like this but the final selection will vary depending on the test panel.

We make every effort to include as many Team Titleist members as possible in these opportunities, but as you can imagine, we unfortunately are not able to include everyone in every test panel.

Keep in mind, the more you participate and the more engaged you are with Team Titleist, from posting in the discussions and adding blog comments to completing your profile, the more likely you potentially open the doors to these Team Titleist opportunities.

Thanks again and have a great day.

I received 3 white test balls in December and a email stating I would receive a survey in a couple of weeks. No survey yet. The balls are great. I'm getting about 20 yards more and higher ball flight. Is their a followup survey?

I would like to try those. I have some of the white and I really like how they react on the greens, but it would be nice to have the bright yellow so they are more visible.

  14. Yellow balls are great for guys like me that love to play till dark. Seems like at least a couple times a week.

It is worth mentioning, however, that these balls may never be released (so I have heard happens to a lot of the test balls).

I love these new yellow test balls.  I played out in the leaves and dying grass today and you can spot it from a long way away.........

I just got a dozen yellow nxt tours and used them this Monday and wed. they were easy to find in the leaves, I wish there would be some yellow prov 1
  17. When I was a junior I played the yellow Titleist balls and in some cases the orange...!  It would be great to have yellow come back into the mix for ProV1x and ProV1.

Ive heard from a couple of people that a yellow Pro v1 has been in the works for some time, but it is hard to do because of the cover

I loved these balls.   I usually play Titlelist NXT Tour S or TM Penta 3.   They played similar to my tms... plenty long off the tee and good around the greens, too.   I thought the feel off the putter was excellent.   Loved the optic yellow color... could see it much better than the yellow NXT Tour color.   I would definitely buy these for the color and putter feel.   I hope we get to find out what line of Titlest balls these are soon.  I do like the ProV1, but it is too spendy for me.

There are multiple posts on yellow cover balls. I received a sleeve of these, Titleist  1's    --TEST--  as side stamp.

This ball has the larger dimples and appear like the NXT series pattern. Very SOFT, like no impact at impact, ball leaps off the face. Longer off the driver, 240 all carry, cold, rain, head wind. Hybrid layup, no impact at impact, normal distance for the club with the same environmental conditions, so a bit longer with hybrid. Wedges 5-6 yards longer than expected, lost one ball to the back water hazard. Big adjustment for the chipping and putting, ball jumps and goes further than anticipated, both chips and putts finished 50% long of distance attempted, this could be problematic in summer with the increased stimp meter greens. Spin could not be accurately assessed this outing, wet greens, head wind, 36 feet spin back on the 2 remaining wedges into the green. Weather is to improve on Wednesday thru Friday, playing Friday. Next report after that round.

Well, mother nature isn't cooperating, greens have been frozen 20 of the last 21 days. Hitting range balls off double stacked mats, unable to putt, putting green closed, short game green is frozen, closed. Mid distance practice green frozen but, they are letting us hit 10 - 50 yard wedges into it, and the sand has to be raked to break up the frozen top layer. Handicapped in pursuing a valid full testing of the Optic Yellow -TEST- balls provided. we're in the third week of our annual Winter Eclectic and have been unable to post a single round.

The YELLOW DT Solos are PERFECT for the short wet winters we get in Southern California..  I LOVE a yellow ball in late afternoon in winter when the sun sets around 4:50 pm.  This is our ONLY wet time of year when Mother Nature FINALLY slows down our greens!  The yellow DT Solo fits the bill!
