Interesting you found more distance with the Pro V1 with your driver but Pro V1X with the 3wood. How about your irons? Longer or truer with the Pro V1 or V1X?

I like the feel of the Pro V1 better. But sick setup on the clubs. Love the way the 915 looks.

I've found that the Prov 1 gives me the most distance, the Prov 1X gives me the most control around the greens..

Great write up Breeze! And i have to agree with you on this... I was accidentally given 2 sleeves of the 2015 ProV1s.. I usually play the V1x and have the 2015 as well.. I have to say I'm enjoying the ProV1s a little bit more mostly b/c of the feel.. It does feel a little softer than the 1x. I am losing a little bit of distance (on all clubs) BUT it appears i'm getting better accuracy with the V1 which I would much rather have..
I will say I enjoy putting the V1 over the V1x. Again b/c of the feel.
Not a 100% sold on this yet so I plan on doing some more testing like yourself. I'm playing this Friday so i plan on playing with the V1x... Maybe do Front 9 V1x and Back 9 V1..
Great post!

Great review. I haven't tried the 2015 Pro V1s yet, although I've been a longtime Pro V1x user. May have to give the Pro V1s a try. My glaring weakness is the driver, which is why I generally stick with the lower spin of the Pro V1x.

I did a similar test when the new pro V's came out and didn't notice any big differences. Both versions were better than the previous model and fantastic. I had alway loved the feel of the balata I still prefer the softer feel of the new pro v1 compared to the X. It's nice to know that if I didn't have a choice, both ball are great.

After talking with the Titleist rep a couple of years ago, I changed over to the Prov1 from the Prov1x. I am 69 and am outdistancing my playing partner who is ten years my junior and uses the Prov1x by 5-10 yards with my driver. I hit my three fairway about twenty yards short of my driver. I am convinced the Prov1 is the ball for me.

Nice write up i will also have to make a decision moving forward. I played most of this season Prov1X.Like to get it done before the weather & leafs take over my course.

I prefer the V1s. found my swing speed is not fast enough for the X and does not go as far w/ my driver or my irons.
I also get a better ball feel around the green w/ the V1.

Titleist is supposed to be coming out with a new SOFT ball October first. Maybe that may be worth a try.
I too can not tell the difference between the ProV one and the ProV one X. Would like a softer ball, but do not want to sacrifice distance.
I remember the balata. At that time they didn't last long. Would be better today.

I used the PRO V1X for about 3 years, then I tested it against the PRO V1. Now I am using the PRO V1 all the time and have been for about 6 months. I am getting lower ball flight and better distance with my driver. I like the way it sticks on the greens You just can not beat the Titleist Pro V1 or the Pro V1x. I have tried other balls and been to ball fitters that recommended other brands. I tried them and always came back to Titleist.

I did the same test.. I feel the X is a better ball. Lighter on the Driver an further . Where the Pro V feels heavier . Putting same feel. X has a nice light feel. Where Pro V feels hevier on putting.Alway leave it short. Just a matter of opinion ..?Golf is GREAT ..!! Go TILEIST

I also did some testing, additionally using the NXT Tour as well as the ProV1 and ProV1X. I've never been long off the tee or with my fairway woods so any difference there was moot. What I did find was that my short game dramatically improved using the ProV1. In fact playing over the same course with similar conditions I was saving 6 to 8 strokes a round just because my approach shots were so much closer to the pin! Also putting on very fast greens was much easier because of better feel using the ProV1. Bottom line: it pays to try them out to see what works best for you!

I notice I get more spin off the ProV1x over the ProV1 on approach shots for some reason

I found the prov1 is quiet hard and loud off the face. Almost a baseball off batt feel. But nice setup my friend pretty jealous I've got a scrub set thrown together with what left handed clubs are available around my hometown.

you should check the compression of any ball you use. dont just go by feel , or sound. both pro v balls, start at about 72 lbs compression.and over a short period of time they will go over 100 lbs of compression.
Every time I tee it up I use a brand new Pro V1 as I know what the ball has been engineered to do and I trust it. I have to tell everyone that it is getting better with every swing. I am finding that I am smashing drives with the 915 D3 and Fd off the and really no loss of yardage of mis-hits. The Pro V1 is coming off the club face hot and crisp with a soft sound on the irons. I feel like the yardage off the irons is about a half a club. I am truly loving the lower flat ball fight with great control. The wedges simply drop and stop just what I want and need when I'm grinding an up and down. I'm an advocate that this Titleist stuff is way good! Let's hear some more of all of your great thoughts and feelings!

Hello breeze, It would be real cool if we could test optic yellow prov1 and pro1x balls. That's if titleist could or would make this possible, that would be staying on top and being #1 . Being #1 is a commitment and dedication to be #1. So go team titleist!!!

Great post!! I used to play the v1 but recently switched to the v1x and am loving the extra distance and still getting plenty of spin...
