I have a 21* 910H with the stock Diamana Black 90g S shaft.  For consistency, I am changing the shaft to the UST Proforce V2, which aligns with my other hybrids/woods.  However, I am uncertain of the exact approach to take.

What is the cost of Titleist sending an already assembled shaft?   Compare that to the cost of the special ferrule, the grip, the raw shaft and $20 labor.  The latter two options make better sense because you still have the ProForce V2 shaft available to do a side by side.

The pga.com mid range trade-in value is $67.  The cost of a new hybrid is ~$229 bone stock plus upcharge.  The going price for a Proforce V2 shaft at Golfsmith is ~$60

New order with upgrades at discounted rate = ~$230 (minus trade-in ~$160)

    Preassembled shaft from Titleist = ??? (assuming $70 - $160)

Stock shaft w/ pro shop fabrication = $70

The hybrid shafts from titleist are $50-70. I ordered my driver shaft from titleist (Custom Exoctic shaft) $110. It's not as expensive as you think.

Thanks all for your input.  I ordered the shaft from Titleist via my local shop today.  Hopefully, it will arrive with my pending order.  There's only 3-pieces of the puzzle left to complete this masterpiece.

[/quote] With Ping irons, if you want lie angles adjusted, sending them to the vendor is a necessity because the Mitchell machines differ by 2* and most repair shops refuse to bend them. This is an example of where the vendor is better.

You can always trade the club later with the original shaft and keep the ProForce. Can you buy and get a raw shaft fitted for less money?   As Lou notes, the PGA price is pretty low.  You might get lucky in e-Bay for $140-150 selling it yourself.

e-Bay takes a cut on the price so they would pay you maybe $100.   People that buy off Craig's List expect you to almost give your clubs away.

Like I said, you would have to price the hosel adapter (either from Tilteist or Golfworks), the shaft (Golfsmith has the general retail price), the grip (which ranges from $3.00 to $10 depending on your preference), $17-20 labor for reshaft  (the possibility is you may only get charged $10 for assembly).  The reason I think about "assembly" vice reshaft is that reshafting combines the $5 for pulling the shaft, the $10 assembly charge and maybe a $3.00 charge for cutting and regripping - sometimes the cut and regrip charge is free if you buy the shaft from the store).

  9. I'v just done exactly the same, ordered a UST Proforce V2 hybrid shaft, ordered it from titleist, and when it arrived it does have the security label on, not much more expensive than the buy-your-own option, plus there is the warranty issue...so i would go with Titleist.
