  1. Hi I was interested in getting a hybrid that was made at 15* or less for easier use out of the rough and fairway than a traditional fairway wood.  Is this possible?

    Steve,

The lowest lofted hybrid we have is 17* in the 913h model.  This can be adjusted to 16.25*, but this will be the lowest loft in any of our hybrids.

  3. yes i have seen that on the website but my interest is in a custom made 15* hybrid to eliminate the 3 wood in my bag is it possible to make this mysterious 1 hybrid?

    Steve,

Unfortunately, we won't be able to build one of our hybrid models at 15*.  One thing to consider would be to visit one of our local authorized Titleist retailers.  They may be able to assist you with finding the correct model that promotes proper gapping and consistent performance.

BH used to have a "0" hybrid with 14* loft.   It had the same length as a fairway wood and I had to cut it down 1" to get it to hit and even then I still hit my 7 wood just as far.

G10s used to come in a 15* loft.  I could hit it about 230 off the tee but it was very hard to hit off the deck.

I briefly carried a Halo 1 iron hybrid.   It had a 16* loft.

To be honest, you might fare better using a 17 fairway vs a 15 hybrid.  Have to understand a 15 fairway just about has to have a soft lie to be able to launch it so why would a 15 hybrid be any easier to launch?

Lou G; I agree 110% with you. I have a 17*  4 wood, and it is one of the best clubs in my bag. I'm not a long hitter (I'm 64 yrs. now and have lost a lot of distance) so I'm hitting my driver about 210yds. but I hit my 17* 4 wood 200yds. off the "T" and it goes straight 9 out of 10 times. Out the turf I get about 180-190yds. with great trajectory but I can only get a 15* 3 wood about 15 feet off the ground, and less distance than my 17*. The only way I get as much distance with a 15* is since it hardly gets airborne, it does get a lot of roll, but I can't control roll. It's funny how much difference only 2* more loft makes, but it's like night, and day. I'd recommend a 17* fairway wood to anyone that has trouble getting a 15* off the ground, and will get more distance than a hybrid.

I actually found out that I hit an 18 fairway the same distance as a 15.

For most amateurs it is simply smarter to use a 17 fairway.

I have a 910F 19* (set to A3).  I use it on 185 yard par 3s and have enough reserve to hit it 200 when needed.  My driver is a 13* draw so no need to carry a 3 wood.  I also have a stinger shot for the 200-220 yard par 3s.

I also carry a 9 wood because it goes much farther than a 21H and it is easier to hit.  I get 170-180 with it.

The last time I carried a 3 wood was 2011.  More specifically, I shot 85 one day at Miramar with 3 double bogeys coming because I used it  3 times and sliced it 3 times.  No problem with the 7 wood - down the middle every time.  I used a TM Burner 2007 7 wood for all of 2011 and half of 2012 before briefly trying a Superfast 1.0 5-18 and ultimately switching to the 910F 19*.

I carried a 975F 16.5 and 20.5 fairway (both with steel shafts) between late 2007 thru early 2010 before switching to a 980F 15* fairway and two persimmons (LV 5/21 and 10/28.5; carried the 10 wood thru mid 2011 before switching to an SQ2 5/26H).  The 980F has been the only 3W I have been able to hit satisfactorily since 2006 but I sold it after finding out the Burner 7 wood got the same distance.

I learned how to play golf in 1972.   I played with laminated or persimmon 3 and 4 woods until I started up again in 2006 and switched to metals.  My 4 wood was a go to club off the par 4s and the fairway ( could hit it about 230 or so back then) and I have hit a wooden 3 wood in excess of 300 yards.  I played with steel shafts on my fairways until early 2010.  I even played with steel shafted hybrids until the end of 2010.  Took awhile to get used to graphite shafts mainly because of the length and what helped was knowledge of grip weight effect on the swingweight.
