  1. How does a 27 degree 910F wood compare with a 5 iron?

    Brian,

I think you may be referring to a 27* 913H, since the highest lofted fairway metal is 21*.  The 27* 913H may have the same loft as the 5 iron (in the AP2, CB, and MB), but has a different face technology.  The 27* 913H will be more forgiving and may tend to hit it a little farther then the 5 iron.  It is a good idea to start replacing long irons with hybrids as you begin to lose consistency with the long irons.

I have nothing but great things to say about the Titleist hybrids.  I carry a 17* and 19* hybrid and love both of them.  My irons are 714 AP2s 5-PW......this is a good set up for me and I do not miss the 3 or 4 iron.....I like the carry and consistency of the hybrid....I also no longer carry a traditional threewood...I opted for a 15*913F and set it at 14.25 and it is amazing.....great distance and accuracy......at 68 years of age I really enjoy hitting from the middle of the fairway and keeping up with the younger fellows.....my driver is a 910D3 9.50 set a 10.25 and I am real happy with it's performance as well.....I tried the new Big Bertha with the middle adjustable core and my 910 goes farther......it's Titliest all the way for me baby......get those Titleist hybrids in your Titleist bag and start smashing the ball down the middle of the fairway.....chuckz  :-)

I have the AP1 5I and the 27H.  Off of mats over this winter, I'm torn which to use.  I think the AP1 is a degree or 2 stronger, so it may be a couple of yards longer on good strikes.  I really had the 24 and 27 910Hs dialed in last season on par 3s.  Very consistent for distance, direction, loft, and roll-out.  The 5I was more of an adventure off of turf.  I never had a 4I, and my 3I is a 21 degree 910F.  My only struggle is the 5I/27H - and only because I have a 5I.
