Have you tried a 19 or 24.....if you are looking to replace loft with loft the 712 3 iron is a 21* and the 4 is a 24*......that is what I currently carry in my bag....15*F and H:  17* 19* 24* 5iron-PW,50* & 56* (my AP2s are bent to AP1 lofts)....works for me....I am nearing 68 years old and need all the help I can get......

I carry the 913H 17* and 913FD 15*.

I dropped my 3i and carry 4 wedges 48-52-56-60.

The 913H is a dangerous club...I can play it from 200 to 250 depending on course conditions.

Add More Wedges....:-).

I used to carry 2I through SW, a 58* w, D, 3W, and putter.  This spring, I purchased a set of 714 AP1's 4I - W2, added a new 56* Vok, and added a 19* H to replace the 2I and 3I.  So far, it seems to be working out pretty well with the 3W and 19*H taking up the distance gap between the driver and 4I.  I would think you'd be looking into a 19* or 21* hybrid for your new addition... maybe even 24*, or an adjustable with a few different lofts.  You should try to get to an outdoor fitting with Trackman or something to look at ball flight and trajectory, as well as distances.
