I'm anxiously awaiting the 915 D2 9.5* driver I ordered, but I'm second guessing the loft I selected. I tried the 915 earlier in the season and I forgot that it sits .5* open in the A1 setting. I know that when you increase loft the face angle closes and when you decrease loft the face angle opens; however, this is only the case when you sole the club. Hovering the club and gripping it with the face square gives you the effective loft…. correct? Does that also apply to the standard A1 setting? If I hover the club and grip it so it's square while in the A1 setting is the effective loft still 9.5* or have I lowered the effective loft by doing that? I like to have a square face with a driver at address and I wondering if I should have went with the 8.5* head and adjusted it to D4 which should come close to squaring it up even while it's soled.
