I have a Titleist 983k driver, 10.5 degrees of loft and a graphite design ys-6 msi-70 shaft in sx flex that came from the titleist factory. The sx flex was a flex graphite design produced for a very short time that was between their stiff and x-stiff shaft. This has been the best driver I have ever had, it fits me perfectly. I tried the 905's and 907's when they came out but did not see any appreciable difference, so I kept my 983k. I am no longer in the golf business so I do not have the one on one contact with a sales rep. I am thinking that with the newer available COR's that my 983k is probably now technologically challanged and I might be able to pick up some yardage with a newer driver. If I remember correctly the 983k created a larger sweet spot by placing more wieght in the heel. I cannot remember anything about the face angle or the lie. What were the standard specs? How do these compare with the 909's and the soon to come out 910's? Also do the newer clubs have a lower center of gravity? Might I need to drop down to a 9.5 loft because of a lower center of gravity? Also what shaft would be the closest match to the graphite design shaft I have? I hit my 983 extremely solid and freakishly straight, the last round I played I hit the driver 12 times, hit it solid all 12 times, and missed the fairway only once and that was by only 2 feet. This was not an unusual round. I also hit it 20 yards farther than any driver I had previously. So I have simply not looked to change but I think it might be time, I will be keeping my 983k. Can you put me on the right track to start the search? Should I be looking at the 909's or wating for the 910's? How do the face angles compare? My thoughts are if the 909 would be a fit that probably the D2 would be better for me than the D3 but please correct me if I am wrong. I have always had a tendency to hit the ball low, that is why I have the 10.5 degree loft in my 983k. I hit it on a great trajectory. My fit with irons is generally 1 degree upright. My handicap is currently a +1. I will be happy to provide any more information you would need. Thank you in advance for your help.
