    I have a yardage gap between my 3 iron and 3 wood, I was thinking of getting a T-MB 2 iron or a 917 5-wood. Anyone have a suggestion?

Try the 816h1 17* hybrid. See a fitter and with the right shaft you might have found a stroke saver.
  3. I was in your position but I actually ended up getting an 816 h2. Honestly the best thing to do is to go to a titleist Thursday and get fit. I couldn't hit the 5 wood for my life and the tmb didn't launch just quite enough. I have a 100-105 driver ss so I'm not sure if you have a faster ss and can make the tmb work but it's a disappointing answer but the only way to know is to get fit.

Have you considered the 816 hybrid line?

Kyle, i love my 816H2, i found it easier to hit then the 5 wood.
  6. Depends on typical playing conditions, the course, and personal preference. 2-iron is obviously shorter and typically has lower ball flight, but better control. 5-wood is longer with higher ball flight, but less control. You could always get both. I have an old MB 2-iron and a 19° 910F in my bag that I switch out based on conditions. A lot of reachable par 5s and I'll put in the 5-wood. On a tighter course or in windy conditions I'll play the 2-iron. I have even pulled my 3-wood (13.5° 910Fd) on very short courses where I don't feel I'll have use of it.

i traded in my TMB 2i yesterday for the 816 H2 19d Hybrid.
I was amazed at the versatility and the ease of hitting different shapes to control the distances.
Id suggest you give them a try....

I use a 17* 910H to fill the gap between my 3 wood and 3 iron.

Don't overlook the hybrids. I was never a hybrid man. Love my long irons, and carried a 1 iron until I basically wore it out. BUT, with money I had in the shop doing nothing I bought a 16deg 915 hybrid. Went back and forth between it, the 5 wood I have and the T-MB 2 iron at first, but it won out big. Gotta tell you, I love this hybrid. Best hybrid I've ever hit, goes just as far as the 5 wood, and more options with it.

I have a buddy who had the same issue. He decided on the 7-wood. He achieved more distance than his 3-iron and preferred the ball flight over the 2-iron.
  12. I have the 712u 2 iron and love it. Its just personal preference really i dont hit fairway woods that well so i went with the iron.

I would say which ever one you hit better. I bought the 816 hybrid instead of the TMB-2 iron after a fitting and I can say I did not like the Hybrid and just recieved the TMB-2 iron about 2 weeks ago and love it I wish I would have got it instead of the hybird but all is good now. I have the TMB-2 iron - 5 iron and absolutely love them.

My vote is always to let the numbers tell you what clubs to play - and not to rule out an 18 degree hybrid.

I wish I could answer this but it really depends on different factors but I can tell you that if you can hit a iron well as that's as long as a 2 iron then that might be the Bette choice

917 5 wood. Easier to hit.

My suggestion would be the 5 wood. Only because of the ease of getting out of the rough. Have you thought of a hybrid instead? Even easier
