I just picked up a new set of AP1's. I purchased 4 iron thru gap wedge 2. That is nine clubs. Now add a driver, sand wedge and putter and that leaves two clubs left.

My question is what two clubs do you recommend I get to fill the gap between my driver and 4 iron? With the adjustability options available on the new woods and hybrids I am sure there are some interesting options available.

Thank you for your suggestions in advance.

Gotta find out the gaps to get proper set up...But most would go 3 wood and a 19* hybrid

  4. Agree with Josh. Pick up a 816H, much more versatile than a 3W

How well do you hit your 4i? I don't carry one.

    I presently play a 21* 816H, a 915 5W and a 915 3W. If I did play a 4i, I would likely play a 17* or 19* 816H and a 3 wood. Obviously a hybrid is more versatile than a fw.

I have been hitting my 3W pretty well lately, from all sorts of fairway and lofty rough lies, and have found I play my 5W a lot less than I used to. I'm considering replacing it with an 816H 17* hybrid.

With the length and accuracy of the 816 hybrids, I might suggest the 816h1 17* and set it at 16*. Would be great off the tee and a very accurate club off the deck. The 917f2 is a great 3 metal at 15* and an extremely strong club. Go with either one of those clubs and then add one 816h1 in possibly a 19*. I am suggesting a 19 because with the 816's you can change the lofts in one degree increments and increase it to a 20* or even a 21*. I like that option with these clubs.

I have a set up similar to yours except I do not carry a four iron. It took some trial and error with the 915 hybrids until I got exactly what I wanted.

    915D2 11*
    917f2 15*
    816h1 17*
    816h1 21*

  7. Hi -its all a matter of preference - a good 3 wood is a must - the 716 range is so good. I would suggest a fitting by a pro- on trackman - this will give you the yardages on your current clubs - and the distances you need to fill and what new club will do that- time well spent.
As me personally not so keen on hybrid woods - but that's just me - but i would seriously look at the driving irons to fill your gap range. the Titleist 716 T-MB will blow your mind - so easy to hit / long / great flight path you will be amazed - so worth a try.

I used to just carry twelve clubs and did for a long time. I finally asked a Pro and he suggested what I should get based on what I had in my bag.

I carry the 917 Driver,3 wood, 24degree hybrid if I play a longer course I take out my hybrid and add a 7 wood
  10. I agree with these guys. I can second the 816H recommendation, it's got a sweet feel.

Josha said it, find your gaps.

    You may look at a 917 F2 16.5° or 917 F3 15° depending upon which you hit better. Then gap our a 816 H1 17° or 816 H1 or H2 19°.

As Doug questioned how well you hit your 4I. You may want to get two hybrids instead. 17° or 19° and a 21° or 23°.

    I currently play a 915 F 16°, 816 H1 19° & 23°. I'm thinking of dropping my 915 F as I don't normally hit it much. I either hit my 915 D2 10° or my 816 H1 19°. I'm thinking about getting a 816 H1 17° and adjusting it to 15°.

I know you already made the purchase but you may also want to think about replacing the W1 and or W2 with Vokey wedges as they will give you much more versatility depending upon the type of player you are.

I agree with Darron. You should definitely find your gaps, but for my game it worked best to replace the 56 with a vokey 54 and carry a vokey 60 along with my wedge that came with my set of ap1s. Good luck finding what works best for you!

Like others have said it all depends on what you're looking for and how you hit the clubs you have. No point it picking up a 3 wood if you can't hit it. Hybrids well get you close to the 3W distance and are easier to hit.

I also agree with Darron K above. My AP1 irons stop at the W1 which I believe is 43 degrees. Then I have vokey 48, 52, 56 and 60.
