  1. Is the 25 degree or 27 degree 816H1 Hybrid a better match to replace my AP1 714 5 iron? I have a 21 degree 7 wood that goes 180 yards and my 6 iron (29 degrees) goes roughly 155 yards so I need the hybrid to fit in between those 2 clubs.

Find a Titleist Thursday event near you and work with a fitter to get the correct hybrid to fill your gap.
  3. There isn't a Titleist Thursday in my area scheduled anytime soon.

The 27 is adjustable from 26-29 degrees. The 25 is adjustable from 24-27 degrees. I have the 716 with a 25 set to 26 and a 23 at 23 and a 915Hd at 20.5 If I wanted to use an H1 for my 6 iron, I'd get the 27. I'm not as long as you (138/148/158/167) but the gaps are good for me. A fitting might tell you if a 25 at 25 or 26 or a 23 at 24 or 25 will gap you better.

How about a golf store of some sort that has flight scope, trackman, etc...going any other route is just a guess and for what the hybrids cost, you would hate to guess wrong.

Just my thoughts, but I've tried fitting and such and the only way to tell was to buy the club and play a bit with it, playing and hitting next to the clubs above and below it actually ON the course, not on the range with the hard crappy golf balls. It of course helps to find a place that has a money back guarantee or something or 90 day trade in policy, we have a bunch here in Utah so it's nice but I know you may not have that in your area. Maybe buy the 27 degree, play two rounds over the weekend and see what you think, decide by Monday and I bet your local golf shops will help out. You might be out a few bucks but worth it in the long run.
This is coming from a guy that goes through clubs like nobodies business and trust me, it's only by playing it in a real case scenario that I'm able to produce the best outcome.. but again, just my thoughts and opinion, good luck

The 816 hybrids can be set a 1* intervals. You five iron is a 26* iron, so a 27* would probably work, ok, all depending on the shaft that you choose. That is why it is important that you get a proper fit. I carry a 816h1 17* and a 816h1 21* and then start my irons with a 716 AP1 5 iron, neither shaft is the same. I have been fitted for all of my clubs by a Titleist certified fitter either on a Titleist Thursday or my another Titleist certified fitter who has a shop in our area. Click on club fitting and you might find someone in your area that can assist you.

  9. Good evening all,
I felt comfortable replying to this Discussion Thread since it was titled Hybrids. I am currently in the process of getting everything in line for getting fitted for a new Titleist Hybrid. I understand when I get the fitting scheduled the fitter will be able to answer this question but was hoping one of you could help me with information while I window shop. Is the H1 or H2 more forgiving of a hybrid? I appreciate any feedback or response.
