    Hi, I'm in the process of buying a ladies set of AP1 716 4-PW irons, do I buy vokey wedges ie 50 and 56 to complete the set or do they build matching Gap and Sand wedges. My previous iron sets have come with the matching GW and SW. Any advice gratefully received and costs?

    Are you buying "a set" because that what a retailer is selling? I only ask as even with the LPGA's, most don't carry a 4I, and that using a hybrid for 5 and 6I is also not uncommon. Titleist actually sells by the club, so a good fitter can help you get the irons - and wedges (W1/W2 or Vokey wedges) to best compliment your game. Buying a package of 6-W2 along with 1-2 hybrids and at least a Vokey wedge for a day at the beach may be a better option.

    Don hits the nail on the head,
    Go see a Titleist premium club fitting center and find out exactly which clubs you really need to complete your set.
    Not to mention proper club gaping.
    Your choices from club heads,loft and lie adjustments to shafts down to the grip size and style for your golf clubs that you really need versus a retailer's set of limited options.

    I am purchasing the 4 iron in addition to the 5-PW as I prefer to use irons rather than woods or hybrids, strange I know for a women but I seem to be able to connect with irons better than woods or hybrids, I will invest in vokeys and make sure I am fitted for them. Thanks

    I've got AP1's and have Vokey's to finish out the set - I love it and highly recommend that set up!.There a ton of combinations though with grind and bounce, and they make a big difference in feel and performance, so make sure to get fit for them!

    Titleist does make a matching AP1 W (47-degrees) and W2 (52-degrees) for $125 apiece if you prefer a matching set. Vokey recommends getting SM6s in 48, 52, and 58 to compliment the AP1 P for $169 apiece. I personally have AP1s 4-P with Vokey SM6s in 48, 54, and 60 in my bag. In my opinion the SM6s have superior weighting, grooves, and milled faces compared to the AP1 wedges not to mention a lot of different bounce options to custom fit your swing and usual turf conditions.

    I would suggest know your gapping to see what loft wedges you want. Once you have an idea you can choose what your wedge set up should be.

    What did you Titleist fitter recommend? After looking at your numbers on the trackman, they can tell you what is best for you.

    I would probably not get the 4I as a hybrid or two would benefit you much more. With regards to the wedges, the AP1 line does make a 47° and a 52° wedge after the PW. You would either want to get a 47° or 48°, a 52° and 56° SM6 or just get both AP1 wedges and pick up a 56° SM6. I would recommend getting fit for all of your clubs especially if you're not sure how you're going to hit the 4I and 5I.

    I bought that same set of clubs this year, except mine was through the gap wedge. I have sense purchased a 54 S grind Vokey and I'm planning on finishing with a 58 M grind.

    Hi Jane,

    I have the AP1 716 4-PW the PW is set at 43 degrees in the men's, I've got 3 vokey wedges a 48,52 and a 58.

    I would say that it's all based on preference and what you feel that club would do for your game,

    if you prefer the cavity backed AP1 GW it will certainly be more forgiving but I would say you'd get more control and shot versatility out of a 48-52 Vokey wedge, as always go and see a titleist fitter I'm sure they'll recommend the best gapping for your wedges.

    Hi Jane, One of the things you might want to consider for the 50 and maybe even the 56 - if you are going to use them for full shots, order them with the same shaft that is in your irons so that you have a consistency of feel throughout your set and wedges. If you do not want to go to graphite in your 56, consider getting a lightweight steel.

    I have graphite shafts on my Titleist AP1 716 and SM6 Vokey Wedges because I love the consistent feel of the same shafts.
