I have a question about the affect of the bounce on a wedge when bending it.

I want to make a 53 degree wedge and I like using a higher degree of bounce, so should I use a 52 and bend it to a 53 or should a get a 54 and bend it to a 53.

    Thanks for the help.

You want to bend a 52 to 53. Adding that one degree of loft will also add one degree of bounce.

Find the club with the bounce you want, be it a 52* or 54* and bend it to 53*.  It should no discernable effect on the bounce angle, unless in bending it you damage the sole.

My 56* bent to 54* has the same effective bounce of 12* now that is 54* as it did at 56*

Bending the loft will change the bounce the equivalent amount.  If you take the 52.08 and bend it weak to 53, you will have a 53.09.  If you take a 54.11 and bend it strong, you will have a 53.10.  You could have the most bounce by bending the 54.14 to 53.13.  Bob talks about bounce on his website - essentially it is the angle created between the sole line of the golf club (the line from the leading edge to the trailing edge) and the ground line at address.  If you bend the loft strong, the leading edge of the club will be closer to the ground when you sole the club which is why the measured bounce will also change.  Here is the link to his webpage on bounce:  http://www.vokey.com/tech_central/page.aspx?id=6#g_2

Thank you very much for the response.

Now I just have to decide what to buy.  I am not going to bend it myself.  I am going to have a shop bend it for me.  I am not that good to be able to bend it.

Thank you to all that responded and all the help.
