    Hong Kong,

My new Titleist 917 D2 driver has a small gap between ferrule and the Surefit hosel (see picture) but the ferrule is not loose at all and is tightly attached to the shaft (does not spin or turn). Does this mean there is a problem with the SureFit hosel or it's broken?

Reason I am asking is my new 917 D2 driver started giving me crazy backspin numbers (10k) on my launch monitor. But when I went back to my old 915 D2 driver, the backspin numbers came back to normal (2k). The 917 D2 seems to swing ok so I made a closer inspection of the club head and shaft thus coming across this gap that was not there when I bought the club. So am wondering does this mean my hosel or shaft might be broken and/or needs repair or replacement. Thanks.

    Hong Kong,

This gap between the ferrule and the SureFit hosel has widened even more and I can even see some white glue material now. FYI my Titleist 917 D2 shaft was cut down by 1/2" to 44 1/2".

So to TT Club Concierge or other members of Team Titleist, is this a sign that maybe the SureFit hosel was not refitted onto the cut shaft properly and hence it's coming off the shaft? Thanks and best regards.

Hi, We would recommend that you have your golf pro set up an inspection - if it is the ferrule moving, it is unlikely to cause spin numbers to increase by thousands.

Thats just the ferrule coming loose. Take a lighter and put a little heat on it, you should be able to push it back down. It may pop out again, it's nothing serious to worry about.

But the white stuff (that looks like might be some sort of glue) is on the SureFit hosel side? So not the hosel potentially falling off the shaft but just the ferrule coming loose on top? Thanks.
  6. Are you sure your club is genuine?

I'm only asking as I bought a 915 D2 (from e-bay!) which turned out to be a fake which developed the same features you describe.

Ironically I played very well with it!

Now playing the GBB Epic until the TS's are released in September.

Bought from certified Titleist dealer. But any way to double-check authenticity online? Thanks.

Ferrules come loose all the time. Push it down. If it pushes up again a little glue will fix it.

Doesn't push down (I've even tried using a wrench to hold it and push it down but to no avail). That's why I think it might be the SureFit adapter/hosel coming loose instead of the ferrule being loose?

    Hong Kong,

So Titleist (which I guess is Titleist USA) confirmed to both myself and the authorized dealer I bought the 917 D2 from that my club is indeed authentic and matching all the authentic specs they have on record. And Titleist USA confirmed to both myself and the authorized dealer that I can bring my club into authorized dealer for repair by Titleist under warranty for this manufacturing defect that has appeared after just a year of use.

Since I am in Hong Kong, after reaching out to Acushnet Hong Kong, they now say they cannot repair this obvious manufacturing defect under warranty. I've been thinking about changing to cally Rogue or GBB Epic anyways as they seem to be superior clubs + I had always used cally before switching in last few years to Titleist 915 D2 (at fitter's suggestion) and 917 D2. Now I think I'm definitely going to switch back given the much better customer service experience I have had with cally in the past.
