If I understand what you're saying it's that you have a 3 wood and a 7 wood and are looking to fill in the space between them. I'm 70 yrs. old and play to a 13 hdcp and I carry three hybrids (21*,24*, 27*) but no fairway woods. I have always found them hard for me to hit well. The hybrids are a bit shorter and easier for me to handle. So, to your question, since your irons start at a 5 iron, I would lean to putting in a 4 hybrid. One other consideration might be a 3 hybrid. I'm not sure what the lofts of your fairways are but if the 3 wood is 15* and the 7 wood is 25*-ish then putting a 21* hybrid might be a better option. Knowing nothing about your golf swing, I would say the hybrid would be about the same as your 7 wood. In the perfect world, I'd get/adjust your 15* 3 wood to 16.5* and then add a 3 or 4 hybrids in place of the 7 wood. But it all depends on how well you hit them and what your yardage splits are from irons, to hybrid, to fairway wood.

I've found a lot of people do better when you simplify things, Driver, 1 fairway wood, 1 hybrid, then your irons and wedges. As a high handicap player, your not going to be using your woods and hybrids as scoring clubs as much as you will use them to move the ball down the fairway.

Can you really hit the 3W? I carry 5W, 7W (21 degrees) , 23H (set to 24), and 27H. Then 6-W in irons. I'd get a 5I but I hit the 27H so well, it's not worth the risk to find out the 5I doesn't gap well with the 6I. Even a couple of pro's are starting to drop the 5I. It just so happens I can't a 19/18H any further than the 7W. The 7W is paid for and I can only hit a 21 H as well as the 7W. So, with your 27 degree 5 iron and a 21-7W, a 25H or 23H set to 24 degrees will fill your gap. Increasing the loft on the 23H will help close the face to promote more of a draw/less of a fade than decreasing the loft on the 25H. But the standard shaft on the 23H is longer, so you should try both to see which works better for you.

Get yourself down to your favourite Titleist fitter and try each and every option, including re-organising the woods & hybrids mix at the top of your bag.
