  1. Hi,

I am looking to replace my 3 wood with a 2 hybrid. I just can’t consistently hit my 915f. I need something a little more forgiving. I currently play a 915h 18 degree and am looking for a 17 degree that I can loft down to 16. I see that the 818h1 isn’t in 17 but the 816h1 is. Is there any way to buy the 816h1 in 17 degrees now that the 818’s are out?

    Thanks

I had similar issue with my 915F three wood lost my confidence hitting it off the deck so I got a 915H 18° hybrid set it to 17.25 D1 and took out the three wood. I then altered the loft of the three wood to 16.25° A4 setting now I don't have a problem and I no longer use the 18°. I think you'll find that you can only get a 913H in 17° and only alter in down by .75° giving you 16.25°. There's always the option of a five wood.

The 816 would be off of the internet. Just need to watch for counterfeits if offered new. A 15 degree 3W is not easy to hit. The other option is to compare a 18 or 16.5 Fairway to your 18 degree hybrid. I carry both fairways, but only take the 16.5 on course if there is a par 3 longer than I can hit the 18 off of a tee. Off the deck, the 18 is longer. That's why you might want a fitting or a demo to try a higher lofted fairway in place of the 3W.

Not actually. Keeping in mind I'm almost twice your age, the 3W is just too much club at my speed. Even the 16.5 is only further than the 18 off of the tee. But the 18 has taken my further off the deck than I ever thought I could get. The TS line with a qualified fitting has extended me. Sort of like those young'ins on the Champions Tour. I'm longer now than 10 years ago.

Don- You don't look like you are a day over 60.
All those cold Madison Days keeping you young!!!

  7. Can't tell where you are based from your details.
In the UK, a good deal of the part-ex trade goes through Golfbidder.
They would be ideally situated to provide the club in question.
Can't say if a similar facility would be available elsewhere.

I recently put my 917f 15* in my extra club bag and replaced it with my 816h1 17* and set it 16*. Might have lost five yards but love the consistency that I am getting with the hybrid. I was fitted for this hybrid earlier when it first came out with a Black Rogue Tour Shaft. Gives me a more versatile club in the bag now. I am 73 years old and play from the senior tees and use this hybrid from a number of the par four tees and very pleased with the results. The 816 hybrid can be adjusted one degree, not like the 915's and the new 818's which can be adjusted by .75. Would recommend considering this club with the right shaft.
