Hybrids or long irons?

  1. I've found having hybrids in the bag has really worked for me. The high flight is perfect for landing into greens.

The highest iron I carry now is a 5 and in the 2018 ap1's that I'm gaming it's like having another hybrid it's so easy it hit no matter the lie.

Are you a hybrid player or do you prefer the feel of long irons?

    Thanks

  2. I play a 3 iron thats bent to 16*. My miss is left and i get hooky with hybrids. curious to try out the ts2/3 hybrids and see if they can knock out my 3 iron.
i hit the ball super high too (swing fault combined with high clubhead speed sends missiles into the air) so i feel as if i can work long irons a little better.

I'm a 15 handicap, been playing for 20 years now and I've always leaned toward hybrids over long irons. At one time, a
6 iron was as low as I would go without pulling a hybrid. Now I often use a long iron from the rough or for low punch shots. Instead of removing long irons, I've opted to remove 5 wood. With the adjust-ability of the Titleist hybrid now in my bag, I'm down to just one hybrid and one fairway.

I like to hit my 4 iron and have a 19* hybrid in the bag.
  5. I just hit the T200 and U500 on Titleist Thursday’s. I love the T200 and bought a set 5-W, but I’m crazy about the new U500 3 iron. I carried it a little over 200yds but the ball flight was extremely high for me. The 3&4 U500 will replace my 4 iron & hybrid.

I play AP2/AP3 combo set. AP3 4i is my longest iron presently. Next up is my 818H1 19*. Then 917 3W. I do prefer hitting a 4 iron over a hybrid off the tee on a par 3. I feel I have more control of the clubface with an iron. However, I have lots of confidence hitting my hybrid off the fairway and out of light rough.

I am scheduled for a Titleist Thursday fitting this week. So changes are on the horizon. For the 4i spot, I hope/expect to try the T200 (if there is a 4i available to hit), a TS3 23* hybrid and the new U-series (500 or 510) to find the perfect fit for me. I think I'd rather play a 4i instead of a hybrid in that spot, all things considered. And, I hit my AP3 4 iron quite well most of the time, so if it ain't broke....

If the fitting shows me a great reason to go with either a U-series iron or a TS3 23 (tuned to 22*), I'm open to giving either a shot.

Both. I have one hybrid (818H-2 21 degree), but I hit my 4 iron a lot. I have a steep angle into the ball, consequently a little more consistent and confidence with the 4 iron. At one time I carried a 1 and 2 iron, but technology has made them obsolete and my advancing age has made them impractical.

I stop my irons at 5 then will be playing 21 and 17 degree TS2 hybrids as soon as they arrive! I love playing hybrids. They are super versatile and forgiving.
