Switching to T200 Irons

  1. I have been playing the AP2 (2008) for 10 years now. I finally ordered a new set of the T200 for the forgiveness without sacrificing looks at address.

My question is about the adjustment I'll have to make in distances. I've looked at the specs of both and judging by the lofts I'll have to start hitting one club less to match distances (T200 8 Iron when I would've hit AP2 7 iron). Can anyone with the T200s speak to this? Also I ordered the 5-PW because the T200 4 Iron loft seems redundant with the 19 degree hybrid I have in the bag.

You might not get exactly a full club difference given that the head construction has an impact, not just the loft. Total club weight and possibly a different shaft could also be factors. You might get even more or slightly less. Once you get them, head to the range as find your average distance for each club. If you find that it creates a new gap between PW and sand wedge, consider adding a gap wedge or adjusting the wedges you do play to minimize the gap. Enjoy the new sticks!

Before being shut down for Covid-19 six weeks ago, I was averaging about 10 yards more with my T200s vs. my previous AP2 716s.

In addition to my AP2 PW-7i, I also played AP3s in 6, 5 and 4 iron last season. This season I am playing all T200s. Unlike the 10 yard difference between my AP2s and T200s, I don't notice much difference in distance over the AP3s. Once I can finally get back out there, the weather will be warmer than it was over the first 3 months of the year here in Maryland. (As of today, MD is one of only 5 or 6 states where golf is still closed down.) So, I would not be surprised to see even a few more yards with the T200s.
  4. I got to put the new sticks to use on Saturday. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I hit some of the best iron shots of my life. I'd agree there was around a difference in distance of 10 yards, but it's hard to get everything dialed in with all the indoor simulators closed due to Covid. Can't wait to get out there again.
