  1. Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum so please be kind. I'm looking to create a combo set with the t100S/t200/possibly t300 irons

6i swing speed is above 105mph, Driver SS around 110+mph... if that matters (but always had trouble with 4i for some reason)

Notes: 1. I want to take advantage of the Max Impact Tech on the T200 irons from 4-7i 2. I want to use the t100S/t100 irons from the 8i up to the PW/GW 3. I always notice that there isn't a huge difference in distance between my 4i & 5i, so I was considering either bending the t200 4i strong or putting the t300 4i in the top of the bag to take advantage of that added distance/forgiveness 4. Wedges would most likely be a 52* (for bump and runs), and a 58/60 for the around the green lob shots.... although i'm open to suggestions for my wedge setup, but I like the idea of simplifying my wedge selection to PW, lofted GW and a LW

What is the best possible combo setup that any of you could suggest for me based on these points... basically help me build my bag

Any help would be awesome from such an experienced group... Thanks!

It's hard to say without knowing more specifics about your game and your swing.

That's quite a fast 6 iron speed, but more importantly, how consistent are you with your ball striking? Are you 20-handicap consistent or 2-handicap consistent? (Or even better?)

I like the idea of T100•S scoring clubs and T200 longer irons. As I have mentioned in these threads a number of times in the past. I, too, am considering the same thing myself. Coming from AP2s myself, if the T100•S had been available to me at the time I was fitted, I would definitely have ordered them instead of the T200s I ended up ordering. The T200s are very nice irons and I am enjoying them, but I do miss the feel and look of my AP2s in the scoring clubs. So, swapping for the T100•S in those irons is likely for me at some point soon down the road. If you have fairly consistent ball striking abilities, I'd recommend it. I'm going to stick with the T200 in 7-4 irons. (Actually, the 7-5 irons, I have a custom-shafted AP3 I love and still use as my 4 iron, which fits in seamlessly with the T200s.)

Personally speaking, even if there is more forgiveness built into the T300 you mentioned, I would not consider one for MY game in the 4i slot. Too big and too much offset for my eye. I get about 10 yards difference between my 5 iron and 4 iron. For comparison to you, my driver SS is only about 94-95 average and I am presently playing off a 4.8 index (though haven't posted any scores since return from injury, so it's probably closer to about 7 right now). If you don't think you hit your 4i all that well, maybe consider a 21 or 23 degree hybrid instead. And if you need either a little extra or a little less distance average with one or the other of the hybrids, either of them can be adjusted a degree up or down. I play a 22* 4 iron and a 21* 818 H2. I get 10-15 yards more distance with my hybrid over the 4i. Yet, I've learned to use the hybrid for shots requiring far less yardage than my 4i might get me, depending on lie.

As far as wedges, I play SM8s in 48/54/58. I had the T200 48, but like the Vokey much better. It's more consistent and offers me more options IMO.

The best possible combo for you is just that...the best possible combo FOR YOU. What works for me may not be right for you. I am only giving you my experience as some extra fodder to add to your thoughts on the subject, from someone who has had similar considerations and experience with the T200s.

    I have a U510 4-iron (22), and had T100 in 5-GW, with the 5 iron bent 1* strong (26), to get a constant 4* gap.
    Just swapped out the T100 to a T200/T100-S combo, went T200 (5 & 6) both bent 1* weak to 25* & 28*, then std loft T100-S (7 - GW), 32* to 48*.
  4. I just wanted to give you all who responded an update...

    I ended up going with:

    1. TSi3 8 degree, Tensei White 75X (45")
    2. U510 1 Iron, Evenflow wHITE t1100 90X
    3. U500 3 Iron, Evenflow White T1100 90x
    4. T100S 4-PW. dg x100
    5. Vokey SM8 48F, 53F, 58M w/ dg x100

I used this setup for half of my summer playing time (minus the TSi3 driver which came recently).
I absolutely loved playing these clubs, especially the 1 Iron.... However, I recently sold my 1 & 3 Iron... why? Because I really never felt confident hitting into a green with these and thinking that they'll hold... most of the time they'd roll right through... Off the tee they were beasts though... The 1 Iron would go almost as far as my driver in some cases, minus the carry though.

I'm in the process of replacing those two clubs with something that I'm more comfortable attacking the pin with... My ideas included:

    1. TSi2 16.5 FW / 15 FW
    2. TSi2 21 FW / 18 FW
    3. U510 4 Iron

To squeeze the U510 4 iron in my bag I would have to drop my 4 iron, which I really do like hitting and when i pure it i love... but it's maybe a little too inconsistent for me and rather have a tad more forgiveness and a few extra yards with the U510... Also, I think the decent angle would be a little steeper and be able to stick greens better than my current T100S 4 Iron. Plus it would double as a hybrid for those shots out of the rough (as I'm not a hybrid fan)...

As for the FW's... any suggestions? I definitely want something that I can attack greens with in the 15/16.5 3/4 wood... I think the 16.5 would give me that little extra height and stopping power and the shorter shaft will be easier to hit........ As for the 18/21 FW, am I nuts or am I starting to see a lot more 21's in peoples bags these days... could be good for 215-230 yards, depending if you throttle it back, plenty of height and stopping power too...

Any thoughts on how to finish these spots in my bag... looking forward to reading some suggestions... I will get a fitting either way, but looking for some good ideas

    Thanks!!!

  5. Just fitted for new irons. Been away from the game a little. Was using 690mb. Loved thise clubs but age has caught up to me. Decided to go with T200 for 5i and 6i and T100s for 7-48* wedge. Adding 18* TSi1 FW and 23* hybrid. Have 19* hybrid. Not decided on a driver yet. New driver did not seem to give me enough increase in performance over my current 913, but am still looking at that. Just concerned about the gaps with the FW and Hybrids. May need to tweak that. Have Vikey wedges in 52, 56 and 60 to fill out the set
