  1. Having difficulty getting my 19 degree 3 hybrid to land softly . It’s my 200 yard club. Should I move to the 5 wood

The spot in my bag I’ve been playing around with all summer, same as you +/- 200 yards. I’ve tried a couple of options and settled on two clubs that I can switch out when needed. Bought a TS2 18 fairway 2nd hand, never played a 5W before, flies high and lands softly, set at 18.75* it’s good for 205 carry. I also didn’t give up on my 19* hybrid, I went for a lighter shaft, it flies much higher and lands softly (not quite as much as the fairway), the yardage is good for 195 carry. There’s a couple of holes at my course, depending on the wind, which make a difference having one or the other in the bag.

If you have a 5 wood it couldn't hurt trying it to see what results you get. If you don't have a 5 wood, then consider adjusting the loft up on your hybrid (1 increment) and see what impact that has before going out and purchasing another club.

Always been a long iron man. Hybrids were ok but you couldn't get out of trouble (under trees etc.) they just wanted to go up. Carried a 5 wood too, and lately the hybrid/hybrids the utility irons. Love the U510s. Now carrying the 2, 3 and 4. They go through the rough, and give me what I want in getting out of trouble keeping low, hitting high, everything. Getting older though so we'll see how long I can stay loving them. But, they are all, TS2 hybrid, 5 wood, 3 wood, in my extra bag in the trunk to jump in anytime, depending on conditions.

I love my 5 wood, there is no shame in having one!

Several years ago, at the recommendation of one of Titleist's top Tour Van fitters, I switched from a 21 degree hybrid to a 21 degree fairway wood. I have found that I now get far better descent angle into the greens and even find myself relying on the fairway for second shots on par 5s that I know I cannot reach. As always, the best way to make the determination is with an experienced fitter.

I play a 818h 21.75*, get a lot of loft and gets me 190 yards. Probably could drop it to a 21.00 and get the 200 yard mark..........food for thought, with respect.....at the ripe old age of 74 love this club.....

I have played around with this slot in the bag for over a year. I recently switched to the 818 H2 19 degrees with Project X Even Flow Blue Stiff shaft. This is working for me at the moment, but time will tell.
