    Hi,
The 5 wood should have a higher launch and should stop on green faster.
For many golfers, hybrid has a better dispersion.

If you like better the 5 wood and If you have better dispersion with the 5 wood, I would play with the 5.fairway wood.

The only potential downside is the gap between 5 wood and your longer iron. If you have not a big gap, go with the 5 wood.

    Best regards,

100% agree with Richard and I had the same dilemma myself as you, Joel. I went with the TSi2 18° 5 wood. First time in 10 years I haven't carried a hybrid, but the 5W was definitely the right play for me. I think you just have to go with what works best for you.

  4. I went to a fitter and got the TSI 3 & 5 wood, 4 hybrid (then to 5 iron). The 5 wood gave me a higher flight and a more consistent carry. Plus, the gapping works great. I use the 5 wood off the tee a lot as well as a fairway finder on tight fairways.

I love the hybrids and carry two in my bag; 18* and 21.25* Driver set at 11.25* and fairway at 15*. Irons 5-W53, 58.12*. Goal to manage to hit my numbers. I hit the 18* of the tee from the senior tees on some of the par fours and outdrive most my age. At 74 have somewhat learned to play smarter. Love the flight, accuracy and flexibility of the Titleist hybrids.
  6. Anyone play the 1 iron U510?
I'm using a 762 2 iron. It has replaced 3/5 wood. 240/220. Was curious what results users were getting with the 1 iron

I actually went thru finding something to fill the gap from my 16.5 TSi2 to my 4 iron. I settled on a 21deg 712U iron, its been perfect, fairway finder.
  8. Hello all, I joined the Titleist with new set of clubs. I have the t300s, 5i - Putter, Driver at 10.5 and 3 wood at 15. The question now is what to put in the bag.

Do i add the 4 iron?
    Add the 5 wood?
Add 19, 21, 23 Hybrids - if so, which combo

I would like to keep the 3 wood for drives off the tee. Confused on the 5 wood, Hybrids set up. Online many folks compare the Hybrid 21 to the 3 iron, and 23 to 4 iron. However, i went to see Tiltliest fitter today, he said 3 iron is more like a H19, and 4 iron is a H21. Left more confused.

This is where things get confusing to me. What is a 5-Wood? When I first started playing golf, a 5-wood was 21 deg. Then along came a 7-wood (pre hybrid days) which was 25-27 deg. Fast forward to today. I use a Fairway wood set at 22 deg. and a hybrid set at 26 deg to replace a 5-iron. I'll let people call it whatever they want without any argument from me, but in my mind, they are a 5-wood and a 5 hybrid.

I saw a while a go a chart were 15-16deg were 3wood, 17-19deg 5wood and 20-22 7wood. Not sure how correct or accurate that was....

I have a Hybrid instead of a 4 iron, then I have a 5 wood (F913) that I absolutely love. It is good in the rough as well,
and gives a little bit more distance out of the rough then my 4 Hybrid.
I have always had a 5 wood in my bag however, so I have years of experience knowing when to use it.
Good luck finding that gap long iron/hybrid that works for you.

I'm waiting for the summer to try how my gapping really works! Just got a new TSi 5w that was turned to 19,5degree to replace my hybrid 4 (22degree 818H2) but in sumulator to gapping seems to be awesome now. 3wood-5wood-hyrid4-5iron(23deg) all go with 10 to 15 meter gaps. Lets see how they actually go...
  13. TSi2 5 wood for me. I could not ever hit the hybrid very well.

What to put in the bag. I’ve tested both a hybrid and 5 wood and the 5wood is slightly longer and has a better dispersement pattern.

    What would you do?

I've just fared better with a 21 fairway vs a 19 or 21 hybrid. For me, it is easier to hit a 41" 7 wood. Always have been pretty consistent with the 23,25 and 27 hybrids.
  15. The first thing that you need to know is the lofts of your 4 or 5Iron.

    TS Driver- 12 Degs
    TS 3-Wood-15 Degs
    TS (5-wood)-18 Degs
    U-500 (3I)weakened from 20 to 21 degs
    5I- T200 which is 24 degs.

I think the U500 series is a pretty good “gap filler”.

On the other end of the bag:
    T-200 PW at 43 degs
    Vokey 46 bent to 47
    Vokey 50 bent to 51
    Vokey 54 bent to 55

    No 60 deg Vokey.

I have a 5W. I tried to use a hybrid and it just didn’t work out for me. If I need to I will pull the 5W and insert a driving iron to keep the ball a little lower. Hit them both and see which hits the right numbers.

I am looking as well to fill a gap in my bag. I am leaning towards another fairway wood. The bag right now has 1 fairway wood in it, my 917f is a 16.5 degree (4 wood) and I have 2 hybrids in my bag already 23 and 27..... bigger problem is I am a lefty and I can't get a 917f 21 degree. SO my options are getting a 917f and adjusting the loft to 19degrees or adding another 818 hybrid at 19 degrees.
  18. I'm going through the same dilemma, looking for an occasional change from the U510 2i and I'm turning to a 5w...

I just put a 21-degree TSi2 (7-wood) into my bag in place of a hybrid. I find it easier to hit and the higher trajectory is particularly helpful on the course I play. It’s a personal preference, but you’re seeing more and more 7-woods on tour. The distance fills a gap and the high trajectory is a winner!

4 wood and 7 wood combination is another option instead of a hybrid.
  21. Bring both, always keep one in the car in case you throw or "accidentally" snap the shaft on the one you are starting with during the round. :-)

I always vote better dispersion and predictability over distance.
