I have a 24 deg T200 5 iron and I'm cosidering a Hybrid replacement. Now I know that I have to go out and hit one to get the same distance as my 5 iron. But I'm interested to know what others have done, have you purchased a 23 or 26 deg Hybrid.

Hybrids have larger mass and they are longer in length, so you will need more loft for it to play similar distance as an iron. Generally 2-3 degrees weaker will play the same distance.

I'm planning on going with the T200s and have talked to my fitter who's going to look at the gapping between a 5 iron and 24* (probably the TSi2 hybrid). My guess is I'll be able to hit the hybrid better than the 5 iron since it's really a 1/2" short 4 iron...

Sorry I should of added that my main reason for asking is if you lofted up a 23 or lofted down 26 to get the desired loft equivalent.
  6. I don't have experience with that but am also interested because new irons and hybrid are in my future.

Regarding lofting up/down, I know that Titleist says the face angle should be independent of loft adjustment, but be aware that generally speaking adding loft would close the face angle and lofting down would open the face angle. Since many people say they too often hit hybrids left (I do) I just thought I'd pass that on. Good luck!
