x shaft on a TSi1 hybrid

  1. I'm kind of enamored with building a hybrid to replace my 27d 5 iron, which I hit about 200y but which I just don't quite trust, despite years of practice. I play x shafts across my set to great success. I play CB irons and a couple of flavors of TS woods.

the only hybrid titleist carries that offers an appropriate loft is the TSi1, which features an extra light head, and is designed for slower swingers, which I am not.

I'm concerned that mounting an x shaft onto an extra light hybrid head could create a totally wonky swing weight. Am I right about that? Is it just a matter of switching out the head weights, or is that not a feature of the TSi1? What kind of weight switch am I looking at. Finally, will and X shaft flight the ball down a bit? I'm pretty sure that would be the case.

    Thanks in advance.

Titleist doesn’t sell heads alone. So you can order any hybrid with any shaft in the catalog and specify the swing weight and they will build to that spec.

You can also adjust the loft on a TSi-2 23 to 25 degrees. You can get fit to see how you can fill your gap with a line that suits your eye. The TSi-1 is a larger head and you may prefer the TSi-2 look and feel. For $279 plus tax you should be happy before ordering.
  3. Hey
Hope this may be of help to you.
I use the same irons (suspect mine are older 716 CB with the PrX shafts ) These we’re fitted at Titleist when purchased - and are perfect - right on the money every time .
My problem as appears yours was two other irons 4 and 3 TMB’s which I changed shafts ( mistake )from steel to graphite but this time from a private fitter- OK but not to the accurate dispersion of the iron set - longer yes - but not what I need.
Playing around with shafts is a tricky business - as a fitter can chop the shaft anywhere and this alters the dynamic of that shaft for you
I now am of the mind set - purchase any club with the shaft that suits direct from Titleist - takes out any grey areas.
If possible go to a Titleist fitter and he will put you on track as per the shaft that suits you personally to that head - then order that one . You now have the knowledge the head and shaft are perfect together .

Not sure what your handicap is but 5 iron 200 yards is not bad - but no good if not consistent every time.

Me personally not a fan of hybrids - but bought one off the shelf just to test . ( Cheap )
Different brand and a shaft apparently not suited to me.
This thing just works every time ha ha the nightmare of the world of shafts .

The point of all this - don’t leave it to chance - not worth it and a waste of money - you could end up with something you never use - because unreliable.

    Good luck
