Looking for some help here...  i know everyone is different.. but 6ft tall and looking for a way to determine the right lenght putter i should have... 6ft tall with a 34 inch Cameron right now, yet it feels like i getter roll when i choke down on the stick...

any insight into a good measure for how long?  and can you cut a cameron down an inch without hurting the specs? (loft lie etc)

    Thanks for any insight.

I think getting fit for a putter is every bit as critical, if not more, than getting fit for a driver.  I really think putter length is completely personal preference.  I've gone from using a 34 to a 35.25 back to a 34....it's all how it feels.  Cutting down a Cameron will change the weight of the putter.  I believe it's 2 swing weights per inch.  If you want to get fitted or talk to some guys who really know their stuff check out RC and Spencer at www.mygolfperformance.com

    Good luck

Thanks, it is very interesting, i was actually fitted for the putter and at the time the told me to drop from a 35 to a 34, and i rolled it better.  However, i was just indoor putting {Minnesota golfer :(  } and i noticed gripping down and leaving about an inch at the top really let my arms extend down and was getting a nice roll.  Thanks for the insight, anyone else have any good clues on right length?

I think putters are mostly about feel.  33 1/2 is what I like, and I'm about 5'11''.  I have everything from 340g to 360g in 33 1/2.  I know that changes the swing weights and what not, but for me 33 1/2 is just the length that's comfortable for me.  Getting fit will tell you what you should have, but putting is such a personal thing.  There's no right or wrong way to grip.  There's no right or wrong way to swing.  I would say try different lengths and weights and use whatever feels right and puts the ball in the hole.

Personal preference.  Look at Robert Garrigus.  All rules are out the widow as for length I think.  Now,Cameron advice best be left to the guys in the know.  You could never go wrong with RC or Josh

Thanks Deno.  If you want really great advise on all things cameron check out the Cameroncollector.  Those guys are enthusiasts and experts to put in lightly.  Nick P on here is a authority on all things Cameron.

Yes, if you shorten your cameron putter the swingweight will be lighter.  That is why Titleist uses the weight screws on the cameron heads and adds +10 grams to the 34 inch putters vs. the 35" putters.

I would not cut your current putter down an inch and instead, see a local advanced fitter that has a probably weighted 33" Cameron to practice.  If you are willing to part with it for a few weeks, you could send it to the Cameron Custom Shop for a proper cut and weight replacement.

There are no rules on proper shaft length, however, the best tend to have the ball just outside their eyes when looking down the line.  This position could be created by shaft length or arm placement.

I am 5'11 and use a 31.5" putter 170g (whatever works right?) it is weighted with a couple strips of lead tape to get it back to balance. I have experimented with many different lengths and weights and find putters feel best, to me, at a D7 to D8 swing weight. I think this is a better way to measure than head weight. The swing weight can change quite a bit based on what type of grip you put on.

You can really screw up your favorite putter by cutting it down without knowing what you are doing. I wouldn't cut down that Scotty until you are sure. Scotty has a unique shaft that is fairly expensive to replace if you get it too short (personal experience). Best way is follow the other advice here, find a fitter (a really good one)
