As I write my list to Santa, I always make sure to include what I would like to see in the upcoming Titleist release. Irons are on deck next year, and hybrids, if I am not mistaken. Here are a few things I am hoping to see:
1) Keep the T150 as a slightly larger, stronger lofted version of the T100. I was a former AP2 player and reluctantly switched to the T100s because they were designed with stronger lofts but I preferred the more confidence inspiring size of the AP2s. The T150 is the best of both worlds.
2) Lose the backplate on the T200s. I like a clean looking iron so I always like when the tech is hidden in any design but the backplate on the T200s looks and feels cheap. The TM P790s and the Miz 245s are what the T200 should be striving from an aesthetic perspective. The T200s could be my next irons if they get the looks right.
3) Pretty please, remove the loft from the Pitching wedge and the Gap wedge. Any player who cares about what the loft is, knows the number. Some of us are a little OCD and don't like lofts on their irons, especially if they have had to strengthen or weaken said loft to fill a yardage gap.
4) Brushed or matte finishes only on the irons. Nobody need the sun reflecting in their eyes off a mirror finish.
I assume since I got a white box of Titleist this year that I am not on the naughty list. What are you hoping to see in the next edition of Titleist equipment?
